your assuming we'll have to punt the ball, all TD's and FG's that night baby!!!! I feel a Wing-less game....We'll see him in Fall 2012

I could see an ineligible downfield call, just because of the delay (even if no one leaves early).

Ohhhh..okay.

Bama will also TRY to:

Score a TD
Kick a field goal
Intercept a pass
Guard RR02
Tackle Hilliard

The good news is LSU players and coaches are good. It will be a fun game to watch

he has shanked a couple but no blocks that i can recall.

And the defense stepped up and no damage. This team seems to know how to respond.

The OP is probably right. I've been thinking the same thing. The reason LSU has had so few kicks returned is that Wing has three strategies - the high 40 yard kick, the long liner, and the delay to allow coverage downfield. Bama was scared in the first game because Les has faked so many, but they'll take a few risks this time in the hopes of catching Wing stutter-stepping.

JEEBUS!!!

The hesitation is a READ. It is not as if he decides to hesitate and IF the rush is on, he is screwed. He looks to see IF the rush is on...if it is NOT, he hesitates.

I think we'll come after one as well, but not at mid-field. In the event they run into him or get the dreaded personal foul call, you still want them on their side of the field.

Good time for Wing to be a Qb. It would be funny if he passed over the blitz.

I agree he can, but he often has a delayed kick called. If it is called at the wrong time and he doesn't get the right pre snap read, and isn't aware after the snap, it isn't hard to block one at all.

You do realize what he played growing up right?

Have you ever watched ARF? He will be able to punt the damn ball with 1/2 the bama D hanging on him.

It would be another coaching mistake by Saban to try to block a Wing punt. Blockers fly to a spot with little chance to react to the kicker moving laterally, Wing will sidestep them and either punt it or more likely take off and make a first down or more. It is his read to make each and every punt.

If it were so easy, or as you say 'not hard at all' to block one of Wing's punts don't you think someone would have done it by now?

There was one block vs Florida. From the play-by-play:
quote:

L 4-9 L39 Brad Wing punt 19 yards to the UF42, Rainey,C. return 0 yards to the UF42 (blocked by Patton,S.).
It wasn't a clean block but he did get a hand on the ball.

Well, it's risky. You have a very stout defense and the confidence that if your call doesn't work and results in a first down for LSU, that you can still stop them. You have to have a coach with the sac to put alot of chips in the middle of the table.

In the first game Bama didn't really come after any, and probably should have.
