Sadie tearfully asked the question: coach, what's the key to a great offense?

Les's answer, paraphrasing: The keys are just this way... confidence in the offense to make the play regardless of what play is called... a great offense can rush the football extremely effectively without turning the ball over... and then when they turn to the throw they can play action after a run and then a wonderful throw can come.

Let that sink in for a spell in the year 2015 of college football.

That i think is Les's biggest problem

When we have the advantage player, vs player we win (most of the time)

but when the advantage closes, we lose game plan vs. game plan

Honestly I haven't seen a lot of what i would call wonderful throws in the last like 5 years. Maybe we haven't had enough wonderful throwers. But i tend to agree that that is smart football.

Eta tho I agree with the poster re the talent advantage closing.

There's some truth to this but his win/lose record prove during his 11 year span that he did something right or the SEC is a farce an we have been fooling ourselves.

The correct answer is that in the year 2015, modern football requires that neither the run nor pass necessarily comes first, that passing is not necessarily secondary to running, that passing should be practiced as its own critical method rather than just a surprise play, that we choose which to do depending on a game plan specific to whom we happen to be playing....
