In January 2018, a month after Texas A&M hired Jimbo Fisher for $75 million over 10 years to replace Kevin Sumlin as head football coach, they terminated Phil Hedrick, the school's associate athletics director overseeing athletic training, and Owen Stanley, its head football athletic trainer.

Didnt know it was against the rules for their players to hook up with each other in the showers as long as they are both giving consent

Why the down vote? He cites the article that uses aTm as a prime example of the violation

With Woodward's approval.

Not a good look for him.

I’m not sure but I don’t think trainers are medical staff. But they can wrap ankles.

“With Woodward’s approval”

So our current athletic director is the one who violated NCAA rules.

yeah the kids got a history of following me around n various threads and going out of their way to try and call me out which often times results in derailing the thread and its quite annoying to other posters as well, to be honest

Not a good look for Woody. Had so much promise of making fast and sweeping changes to right the ship. Everyday Bo and his minions are still in charge and doing their best to cripple the school and program.

The moment the season ends I expect Bo and company to be sent packing.

It looks like there’s a verbiage question. Are trainers considered “medical staff”? They can’t diagnose anything, nor prescribe anything. They simply follow the doctors recommendations. Semantics? Yes. But that should definitely be clarified in the rules.

How so?

This seems to be regulation meant to assure that a coach can't lean on medical personnel and force them to push a player back into playing before they are ready being bastardized into "medical personnel cannot be fired or replaced"

I see nothing wrong with what Jimbo or A&M did.

Three years ago, the NCAA and sports medicine leaders worked to establish new rules that would limit the influence coaches have on the hiring, firing and supervision of sports medicine personnel -- part of a larger effort to ensure athletes receive sound medical care.

Violate the rules and schools risk being cited for NCAA violations.

But medical independence concerns remain, according to an Outside the Lines investigation. In one case, at Texas A&M, newly hired high-profile football and basketball coaches appear to have directed who will provide medical care to their players, according to documents obtained by Outside the Lines; it is "a direct violation of NCAA policy," said one sports medicine industry leader.

Help you out a little OP.

Only an issue when a senior hooks up with a freshman who isn't 18 yet. And just a technicality in that instance.
