at its best, it is still the best, but on an average day or night, it is not even close to the best anymore. Too many corporate and free-ticketed fans these days. Not nearly as many hard core, and that is not going to change. If we struggle, some of the weanie games are gonna make us look bad.

It's odd, as the stadium dynamics has changed a lot, as evidenced by the dwindling crowds from half time on to a crowd of only 72K for the gators last yr. And it is not just the students who are bailing out early, as there are huge gaps all over the stadium from half time on. Yet, according to the paper, LSU has sold a record number of season tickets & the waiting list is between 4-5K. Facilities wise, the new TS provides for a much improved physical environment. But with the complete commercialization of TS & all the corporate type fans, the actual game environment is nothing like it used to be. So, explain the waiting list.

What were these people doing before going to LSU games?

It's the gripe I find silliest. It's not like the "corporate types" in La. were just hanging out at the Country Club during LSU games in the storied years past, and only recently decided to start going to games.

There may be legitimate gripes to what's going on at TS recently. This one is just dumb, though,

True. Very rarely does it reach that fever pitch that made it such a storied venue. And if it does, it's only for brief spurts. Hell, the fricking Tiger (a big part of the mystique) only makes it out to 2 maybe 3 games a year.

That's ridiculous. The corporations that allegedly have this giant glut of tickets are BR and Louisiana-centric businesses. I promise you, there are many HUGE LSU fans in that group. If the fact that they don't dump cokes on people or try to start fights with other fans makes them less "hardcore" than the trash that does, then so be it.

The problem is that the atmosphere in TS is a victim of LSU's own great success over the last 10+ years. Fan expectations are at a level never before seen. LSU is expected to win every game they play in TS. That translates into the fans not feeling as though they "have" to be such a big part of the game. Great play doesn't excite the avg fan anymore. It's simply looked as as something LSU football is "supposed" to do.

Let the program go through 7-8 years of losing or mediocre football, then start winning big again. You'll see TS as loud as it ever was once more.

I'll stand by my contention that corporate type fans are a part of the problem at TS. I did not say they were THE problem. But in my immediate section, one of those "box type sections of seats,8 seats total, over the entrance/exit to the stadium is owned by EXXON. And has been for yrs. Either employees or clients, either group, the fans are never the same & for the most part, seldom watch 3 quarters, let alone a complete game. And I have been sitting in my seats for over 30 yrs. Next box section over, same dynamic, seats owned by Capital One Bank. Clients or employees, never the same crowd. gone by half. How many tickets does the Shaw Group control? Pennington? OLOL Hospital? And these are only a few of the corporate seats I know about.
