I love seeing Spurrier with more than twice the number of losses in the same amount of time ranked above Miles. Petrino has one less loss at Arkansas than Miles has at LSU, and Miles has been at LSU for three more seasons than Petrino has been at Arkansas.

Miles as head coach had ultimate responsibility for the ALL aspects of the team. His head to head and number of wins makes him Nick Sabans equal IMO. He is recruiting against arguably this best program in college football. Not just Nick Saban. That IMHO sets him apart.

Who was number one and what did they win for finishing first in the coaches race? Nothing? Hmmm... I guess this race was freaking pointless then.

Miles has had a great deal of success at LSU but I don't have an issue with anyone saying the coaches listed ahead of him are better coaches. They may very well be better coaches. Just as long as they don't match his success we'll be ok.

Its going to take a while before the national press forgets the stinker we pulled in the BCSCG. That's to be expected.

Being a successful head coach is more about management than x and o.

This is an incredibly horrible list,
how about some accomplishments or recognition for such? Mullen? Richt? Grandpa Spurrier, sorry but this list is complete BS

according to what? have you been eating retard pills today? miles had the worst loss in bcscg history.

I can't stand our recently "ENTITLED" fricking fan base. You do realize that since Les Miles was hired at LSU , no sec team has won more games and only 5 other programs on the entire country has. Only these "fans " would let all the shite we accomplished last year , while playing one of of not the hardest schedule in modern football, be wiped away because we went 1-1 against the best Bama team of all time. Jut last year we curb stomped the PAC 12 and rose bowl champ, went into Bryant Denny and won( making it two in a row against Lord Saban), curb stomped the Big East And Orang bowl champ, curb stomped the #3 team ( Arky) and destroyed the SEC east champ on our way to a SEC TITLE. BUT YEAH LET ONE GAME RUIN ALL THAT. I HATE OUR ENTITLED FAN BASE.

Just because you and I don't think he is better coach than Miles it doesn't make it factual. If you asked nationwide he would get a lot of support to be rated ahead of CLM (even with a lot of our fanbase--just read thru this post).

Come on man. Sooner orated if you are to be a great coach, you need some hardware, of any type.

If LSU had Petrino, we would have won it last year and this year.

No we wouldn't have. Petrino can't recruit. If a recruit isn't familiar with BP or Arky all they have to on is national stories. Which aren't kind to BP. Also he doesn't hire top notch staff. Period. In CFB you're only as good as your recruiting and your staff. There is nothing in CBP past to suggest we would hae won it all. Last year, all year, our strengths were def and spec teams. BP doesn't emphasize either one.

I'm not a huge Les Miles fan but I do believe he should garner a bit more respect from the national press then he currently receives, but he probably never will. He's not viewed as a great x and o's coach. Personally I don't see him as a great coach either but he is successful and as an LSU fan that's all that counts.

Posters referring to the BCSSG performance are making a valid point in how that one game affects the perception of Les' coaching abilities. Perhaps its not fair to point to a single game but everyone watched an LSU coaching staff either refuse to or simply didn't possess the ability to make corrections to the game plan and personnel on the field when it was needed.

Right or wrong that's the game that defines Les Miles for the moment. Every coach has to deal with "the last game" as his legacy. We'll have to see if Les can give his evaluators something else to remember him by.

Serioulsy, for all of you Miles haters, if he wins THE title this year, do you finaly get off his back? What will it take for your guys to rally around a coach who has brought an impressive record & championship trophies to a school you love?

Exactly. Sometimes i wish miles would've left for Michigan so all these "fans" could see that the grass is t greener on the other side. The man has ushered in the GREATEST 6-7 YEARS IN LSU HISTORY! Period. If he hang won you over by now , he never will. I too wish we would've done better on Jan 9th., but we lost to the best Bama team of all time with the best defense in the last 30 years. We didt lose to ulm. ENTILED frickS
