this is merely one of the reasons i have no respect for athlon. i think they are a piss poor organization and they have no credibility with me. basically, les miles only has success, 7 yrs in, because of nick saban. how much bull shite and ignorance can one magazine spew? ok, suck sabans dick, but what the hell has petrino won? richt should have lost his damn job; miles and others are all outrecruiting him in georgia. look at the georgia players playing for usc, ut, lsu and others. i'm sorry i even read this garbage.

Miles should definitely be ahead of Richt and Mullen

Totally agree. Only Saban, Spurrier and Patrino could make anytype of argument (with Saban the only one obviously better).

I do think our fanbase is easier on Miles about the last 3 years of QB play (I could see 1, maybe 2yrs of it but 3?)

But, then you have to give him credit for awesome special teams & defense. I think 2012 is a big year for Miles and the Tigers!

As far as pure coaching without recruiting Miles is still better than Richt. Mullin is a toss up. Bobby, Spurrier and Nick are better. I'd rank him 4 or 5 in coaching. Recruiting I'd rank him 1 or 2. I know Bama has better recruiting class but Les gets real quality guys who play better than their star ranking.

Mullen is a toss up? The man has finished at the bottom of the SEC West every year he's been at State. Miles has won 2 SEC championships and a NC. Toss up??

Never getting to the championship game makes someone a better coach than a guy that's been to 2 and won 1, because he had a shitty QB that missed several opportunities to throw down the field?

Is Tom Osborne a mediocre coach cause he didn't throw down the field on Florida in he NCG?

Are you stupid or just biased?

You are kinda missing the point on that one. Tom Osborne did not need to throw down the field on Florida because they were running all over them all game long.

LSU, on the other hand, was not running all over Alabama. And it was not really because our RBs were not doing the job. The RB with the most touches on 1/9 was Hilliard with 5. That's right...5. JJ ran the ball 15 times.

If you are doing something that works, don't change it. That was Osborne against Florida. If you are doing something that fails miserably, don't change it. That was Miles against Alabama.

Everyone saw that and it kind of really hurt Miles' perception as a good coach. He had made some significant progress in changing the media's perception of him up until that point. And then it went all out the window. No one can defend Miles in that game, not even the most purple and gold person. A few try, bless 'em, but everyone knows that was a grade A, world class, exceptional coaching F up. Enough to make you rethink what you thought of the coach.

Saban- sure I won't argue that.
Spurrier- he is a shell of his former self. Still a good coach, but I'm not taking him over Miles.
Patrino- makes a good offensive coordinator.

Even though I quoted you, I am not actually directing this at you.

How many of those 15 runs were actually pass plays where JJ either got sacked or had to scramble because of pressure?

I would have to go back and watch the game again.

Honestly, I would rather make out with Brooke Hogan while listening to her music.

I agree with you for the most part although I think Spurrier is better than most give credit for still. I would not take any of these before Miles and my reason is that he learns from his mistakes and adjust eventually-(sometimes too slow for me but o'well). I am happy with our head coach.

Last statement before ranking:
"One thing to keep in mind - the record is not always indicative of where a coach should rank in a conference. "

Apparently this is their cure for this:
Record is not indicative?

"The Hat has maintained an elite level of success with four 10-win seasons in six years..."
As opposed to 5 11 win seasons in 7 years.

"..and after LSU became the first and only two-loss team to win a BCS title, Saban has been the far superior coach..."
1. But Saban being the first divisional runner up to win is okay?
2. Since the 3 straight CLM won in this universe doesn't matter, it is true Saban is 3 - 2 inte stated time period. Not quite sure how this is "far superior". Oddly enough winning 12 straight then losing in ATL then to Utah in BCS, plus snatching defeat from the jaws of a 24 point victory is acceptable.
When did Athlon become a rag?

Am I being a CLM homer? Is this an uninformed article or is it just my perspective is wrong?
