Damn, I'm old. I remember when they built it and I still think of it as new...

I need to look into this, because I have no idea the costs involved with asbestos removal.

No need to look. LSU has done studies and the cost is way to much to make it feasible. This plus Asbestos removal is a messy time consuming process.

Lol. Your tuition doesn't go to anything athletic. Plus for years I paid for the union to only graduate before it was done. They usually add an excellence fee that goes to the dorms, urec, bookstore, union. People who were in school several years ago paid for all that.

It's a shame they are wasting 1.8 million on the natatorium when it needs to be demolished. It still won't have heating or air conditioning. It will still have cinder blocks where you can see outside through the wall in some places. Still will not have the capabilities to host SEC's or large club swimming meets that could bring revenue to LSU and the city.

What a waste, will still be the shittiest pool in the SEC .

Agreed the Natatorium needs to be demolished. It was put up cheaply and quickly in the 80's. LSU needs to drop the sport if they do not want to be competitive.

Agreed on the Natatorium and it needing to be torn down. It is a terrible an SEC program has to swim in that dump. My high school had a better Natatorium than LSU does.

Dead serious... The water is heated but imagine waking up in January at 5:30 and stripping practically butt naked in a huge freezing room and jumping in the water.... Or swimming in a sauna in July.

Can't get consistently good recruits because the pool is a POS. it's 30 years old now.

It's amazing to me that we would neglect one of our sports like that.

Your tuition probably isn't paying for this.

But if you think the athletic department isn't producing revenue you should just transfer to BRCC now.

They'll get there eventually. There has been some kind of abatement going in the studio arts building for a while.

I remember when they built the Natatorium for the 1985 National Sports Festival which was renamed the Olympic Sports Festival the following year. Many of the '84 Olympians were @ LSU participating.

The opening ceremony in Tiger Stadium was great and was followed by a Cheap Trick concert. It's hard to believe it was 30 years ago. That would make me....ugh...never mind.

At Tiger Stadium, bleachers in the east, north and west sections of the lower bowl have deteriorated and will either be replaced or reinstalled depending on their condition.
Why not just replace them all if they're that deterioated? Why do it half arse? Oh, wait.......

If it's a time & material job you're looking at around 60-80/hr per employee alone (not all of that goes to the employee). Along with other fees. It's not cheap.

The renovations at the natatorium are long over due. No A/C? Wow. LSU is a major player, right? LSU Swimming needs all the help it can get. They are falling off the map in the SEC rankings since they got rid of the coach and alumnus that was finally putting them on the map again. What they need is a coach that somebody has heard of and the recruits will follow.
