As the best outfielder in LSU history by the end of his Junior year?

At this point, I have never seen one better in the field.

The guy sees the trajectory immediately, and is able to make the right move.

Probably not. Mikie Mahtook and Andrew Stevenson were pretty good themselves and that's just a couple of ones under Mainieri.

So far I haven't seen Watson do anything that Stevenson couldn't do.

Just feel like I should mention Stevenson.

Im only talking about fielding. Watson still has a lot of room for improvement at the plate. Although he hasn't been to shabby there either.

Stevenson obviously had more big plays to this point, but some of that was make up speed. Watson seems so effortless out there becasue he sees the ball so well.

I still have never seen a player improve so significantly from his freshman yr to what he became at end of his LSU career

I actually think his ability to track the ball was the most impressive thing about him

Armando Rios was the best.

Cedrick Harris is top 5.

Let's slow it down, and say he is the best freshman fielding CF we have seen

What's scary is this is his first year to ever play outfield. He's a shortstop.

Mikie Mahtook

Mahtook at LSU would take some bad routes to the ball but his athleticism would allow him to be able to make great plays. Jake Farley doesn't get enough credit for his abilities. His ability to read a ball of the bat and get to the spot was outstanding. I see a lot of that in Watson. Won't make many flashy plays because the reading ability will allow him to get to the spot easier.

A little premature, my god, why do we do these things as sports fans?

He could certainly be, but it's very very tough to beat out Stevenson in the field.

Highlight reels galore, but was pretty meh at the plate.

The outfield of Landry, Mitchell, and Chad Jones may be the best combined ever though.

Landry had the most highlight plays but I would say Stevenson was better.
