As much as I like Nuss, LSU has to play only JD vs State

But they have to roll him out of the pocket with the option to run or throw. JD is most dangerous in space, and this is not the game to try to keep JD in the pocket. State will be strong on the D Line rush in the middle, but they don’t do well off the edge. Rolling JD out of the pocket will neutralize the interior pass rush.

It's crazy how they try to make athletic QBs pocket passers. It's like trying to make Nuss run the option. Why?

No one who's opinion means anything was considering otherwise.

The Nuss fans are delusional. He will be ready to go in 24. Daniels gives LSU the best chance to win now. I also expect Daniels to tear it up vs State.

The point was that the coaches can’t try to keep JD in the pocket in this game or they’re neutralizing his best advantage just like they did with Perkins by moving him inside.

Nussmeier can scramble in case y'all haven't noticed. He spun away from a tackler and sprinted right and throw a strike to Jay Ray in the SEC Championship game. The problem with JD is that once he starts to run he isn't going to throw it and he refuses to throw it deep.

Even when JD’s thrown 2 picks and we’re losing at the half?

And what if Daniels has 200 yards and 3 TD’s and LSU is up by 17 at halftime? See how this works?

We need Nuss because we'll need to put up 50 points to win thanks to our swiss cheese Pelini defense

Agree with you vs Arkansas and other teams with great offenses, but not this one.

When have you ever seen JD make a throw on the run? He should be able to create some big plays when he extends but when he leaves the pocket it’s a run 100% of the time. Another big deficiency in his game.

Honestly some of JD’s best work in the passing game comes from the pocket. Just a matter of him letting it rip.
Nuss is actually better at manufacturing big PASS plays on the move in my opinion.
But JD is obviously the better runner.

Designed rollouts are not the strength of our OL, cut off half the field, and work best with a QB who can make quick decisions (not JD).

It's not the conundrum everyone believes it is.

He's a 5 year starter with a 2nd year staff.

Unfortunately, unless they make the change at the position, the coaches need to be using the QB’s legs and getting him out of the pocket. JD absolutely can not operate effectively from back there. If he’s not holding the ball too long then he’s either checking down or running right into the pressure. His downfield throws? Weak and rarely on the mark. He looks bad even against very weak defenses.

And some with the rose-colored glasses will start throwing out yards and completions like everyone can’t see he obviously missed TD opportunities, opting for the high percentage throw.

And that was one of the biggest contrasts between him and Jordan Travis in the FSU game. We got pressure on Travis and he extended plays and still looked to make the pass. JD, once he gets pressured pulls the ball down and looks to run more times than not.

If he was able to buy time and let WRs uncover the offense would be explosive with more YAC and big plays.
