Yeah it is fricking crazy that someone would not base their financial future and adult life on their favorite college team. Who are these wack jobs

This!
I was raised going to LSU football/basketball/baseball games my entire life. Have been a season ticket holder myself for baseball & football for over 5 years but stayed closer to home in college to work part time for my families' business while in school. That really paid off for my financial future. Rarely ever miss a game, even through college.
So basicaly, don't judge all the same.

Get this: start with the fried mushrooms with wine and cheese sauce,
That will be perfect for all the "Cheesers" making the trip. Hey wait, "Cheesers" don't really care about LSU football, so I doubt any of them will be going.

If you live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast but your family is from Louisiana and you have been an LSU fan all your life but then went to Miss. St. because of in state tuition, do you expect that person to just drop LSU and become a State fan?

This describes me except I still went to LSU.

Growing up no one on the coast liked LSU. Except maybe during baseball season. Then after 2003 there is LSU stuff everywhere.

It actually annoys me when I go home. Kids these days should have to live in the same level of torment that I did!

Got my Master's at MSU after bachelor's at LSU. I don't hate State, but I don't actively cheer for them like I do my Tigers.

Starkville is very underrated. Sure, its not the best trip, but this weekend with the Black Crowes/night game is going to make it pretty solid.

State is renovating their football stadium - its going to be really nice, even at 62,000 capacity. The video board is awesome and they don't put ads on it like we do. There are three side screens for ads/score/down and distance.

Food is good for a town that size. OP mentioned Harvey's - they have a great steak and wine selection. Others include Mugshots (burgers), a couple of BBQ joints, Restaurant Tyler (which will probably be the Taste of the Town segment - bison meatloaf is amazing).

People who are able to sum up their college experience as simply "moving to a different city for 4 years" seem sad to me.

Yes. It is beyond stupid to pay out of state tuition to go to the state school of Mississippi. Although it makes a little more sense since he grew up in BR. If you read my post, I was really directing my opinion at the dumbass Nola people who think ole Miss has some prestige that LSU doesn't.
