Wouldn't effect me either way. I would love to see Penn St smash them in the mouth and not let up just as much as them being undefeated when we whip their arse in TS when we play them. With a distant third of having both happen and sending Bama to a multiple loss season.

I can't believe some of you are going to pull for bama. frick the conference, IDGAS about "conference pride", I care about MY team. If I were an LSU fan, I would want everyone in the west to lose as often as possible, regardless of the opponents' conference. There's already the national perception that the west is Alabama and the other 5, don't you want them to come down a notch? I mean hell, they haven't lost a regular season game in 2 years and some of you are STILL going to pull for them? Some of yall have some really mixed up priorities.

Doesnt impact the SEC West, so yes I want them to win.

This. I hate Bama just as much of the rest of you, but fact is, the better the SEC looks, the better we look. With the BCS, this is just the way it is, at some point you just have to root for your rivals sometimes. Perception of strength pulls so much weight in the BCS standings, and if you are in the best conference, you are gonna get the nod over a team in a weaker conference. It would be dumb to not want your conference brethren to win all ooc games.

False. The SEC is the best in the country and everyone knows it. A penn state win doesn't hurt LSU, it hurts bama, which is what you should want. You wanna know what will make LSU look better? Win the damn conference. And if LSU does that, do you really think that in the first weekend in December people are gonna say "Well yeah LSU are SEC champs, BUT...remember when bama lost to Penn State?"

IDC

If Bama wins it helps SEC's computer rankings - if they lose then people will make fun of them

Win or Win

1. my housemate went to State Penn. We will be watching.

2. I like that the SEC has 5 NC's in a row.
I would like that to be extended. If Saban loses, and goes on to 11-1, they might be shut out of the NC game by the Boise's going 2-0 against decent opposition.

Yes, and you know how it got to be that way? We beat the shite out of most ooc opponents. Not just LSU, not just Georgia, most teams in the SEC do.

Bama losing that game has 0 bearing on who wins the conference, so that point is moot.

You know it's not that cut and dry, I shouldn't have to explain it.

Say it came down to LSU or Penn ST. as to who goes to the BCSCG? Not saying it will happen, but this is the way you have to think with the BCS.

yep, thus I am rooting for Oregon State, but not Va Tech, to beat Boise.

PS, its MOOT, not mute.
its CUT AND DRIED, not cut and dry.

This will be like the last NC game for me.

I'll definitely be watching with interest, but will probably just have to let the game play out a bit and see who I'm instinctively pulling for.

What helps LSU? Bama winning. We want the SEC to be undefeated OOC to help our strength of schedule.

I hate Bama, but I hope they win this one, just because it helps LSU.

If Bama wins then somebody somewhere will say how the SEC is tough. But as an LSU fan, how can you PULL for any other SEC team?? If they win, so be it. But to WANT them to win is stupid and shows how ignorant most people are. Be an LSU fan. Pull for LSU. Hate your rivals. It's what football is about. If we win, it won't matter who has what perception. Quit caring what other people think. Never pull for those you recruit against.

I posted this is a similar topic awhile ago:

I agree with the whole BCS/No playoffs/Strongest conference gets the benefit of the doubt argument.

However, I think what a lot of people omit is the fact that sports is all about playing the best. If you're not playing against the best teams, why play at all? So you can cruise to a NCG berth?

Personally, I root (that's not the best word but I can't think of a better one) for SEC teams in non-conference games because I love my teams playing at the highest level of competition. If all the people who never want Bama/UF/Aub/etc. to win got their way, LSU would be playing teams with losing records every week. Who the hell wants that?

Why is it ignorant? People pulling for Bama are actually using logic in who they root for. College football is the one sport where "what other people think" actually matters.

And quit with the, if we win, we won't have to worry about any of this. There is a very small chance we win ALL of our games. Any loss leaves a window open for someone else, and it's perception that determines who plays in the big one. This is the BCS people, wake up, it's been going on for a while.
