You're right about most of those things but explain Hilliard taking over everyone's spot and he never gets carries now.

Kenny Hilliard's role diminished because Jeremy Hill is the same type of back except he is better. What offensive line starters? Most of them cannot make it through the season except for Collins and Lonergan. Hurst left the team due to personal issue, Williford suffered a severe concussion, and Faulk suffered a season ending injury. You can't expect an OG to get inserted at LT and putting in 2 freshmen OL midway through the season and expect that o-line to gel that easily. One poor performance by a lineman makes the entire line look awful.

Wow yeah since I didn't have the money to go to a certain college I can't be a fan or more of a fan than most who attended. I've been a die hard LSU fan since I was a very small child and I will remain an LSU fan until the day that I die and idgaf what you have to say about it.

Those same guys you mentioned besides Faulk have gotten worse while healthy is what I was saying. Williford, Hurst, Blackwell, and Lonergan (a tiny bit) all got worse throughout the 2011 season.

the only times our OL looked bad for an entire game was against Bama. and really only the BCS game, because by the end of the game in Tuscaloosa they'd started wearing Bama down.

I'm really not sure you comprehend what you're watching. it's ok though, that happens a lot around here.

I'm not sure you comprehend what I wrote. I said they got worse as the season went on, not that they got worse as they played through a game. Meaning every week they looked worse and worse. The very beginning of the season they looked like the best in the country. In the middle they looked top 5. At the end they kept dropping. Against Arkansas=below average, against Georgia=looked absolutely lost in pass blocking and couldn't run block at all for a half, Alabama=absolutely horrible

Are you really an LSU fan?????

Blackwell currently plays for the Carolina Panthers.

Like I said earlier, Hurst had personal issues. That means his head wasn't in the game. He left football because of these issues.

Williford played like Williford last season. Solid but not great.

There is nothing wrong with Lonergan. He's been our most reliable o-lineman.

Mettenberger has about as much pocket awareness as Jordan Jefferson without the escapability. He's been getting sacked by cornerbacks throughout the season. You expect our OL to cover corners too?

Edit: sorry, I didn't see 2011 but pretty much similar reasons

I mainly was talking about the 2011 season that's why I mentioned Blackwell. Williford played pretty horrible in his time this season, Lonergan looked good this season but looked better the start of his junior year, Hurst had his problems, but still they all seemed to decline from the start of their sophomore/junior years until the end of their last start.

we put up like 500 yds on Arky, and that's with Jordan playing spotty early on.

they showed some run blitzes we hadn't seen, we adjusted in the 2nd half and ended up running for 200+ yds. Jordan pretty much sucked all game and was holding the ball too long/ missing wide open WRs (remember the deep ball to Randle in the 1st qtr?). I'd say the OL did their jobs.

no argument there

I don't recall this, but hey if you say so.

Lonergan was nicked up pretty much all yr. I think he has a back issue. that's why Porter started the Auburn game.

It all goes back to QB play and whether or not an individual player struggles on the line. Jefferson played awful down the stretch and when Hurst started becoming a liability, the entire o-line struggled. The chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

there's been some talk that Faulk may be considering turning pro. not sure of the rationale, maybe he feels NFL doctors could help him with his recovery better than LSU's could. maybe it's a fear of further injury. maybe it's just message board chatter.

I'm disappointed no one actually seemed to take the OP's question seriously, because I wondered about Williams myself.

I had no unreasonable expectations of him and I'm not saying to put him in the game. I'm just wondering if anyone has any information on where he is now as a football player. He seemed like an interesting prospect when he came in, and he's been practically invisible for years.

If he was not any good to begin with, then why did we recruit him? If he was good to begin with, and now is not, what happened? If he is good now and not playing, why not?

Making generalities about the coaches' tendencies regarding other players' development or lack of it is not helpful as it concerns Williams. Anyone know the answers to these questions?

What a frickin idiot...yeah Ridley really declined during his play here...hes tearing shite up in the NFL for one of the best offenses in the league.

Convenient how you didn't name Randle since he was fantastic his junior season and is now starting to have some success for the defending super bowl champions.

Brandon Lafell had 2 TDs his freshman year, followed by 4 his sophomore year, 8 his junior year and 11 his senior year. Yeah he really regressed badly.

You are a fricking dumbass. GTFO with these stupid arse comments.

Dude can flat out jump out his cleats. I'm talking by far the highest vert on the team. State high jump and long jump champ I believe. He is also decently fast with great length. I think his hands and route running are the problem, but he could be of use in a hail mary, thats for sure.

As for Kenny Hilliard, he did have some knee issues he tweeted about frequently:

kenny hilliard
?@noceilings27 17 Nov @MrDATDUDE4 ... Man I'm good man after the season I'ma check my knees out no homo bc I can't even stay sitting down with them hurting man

But, in general, player development falls on the shoulders of position coaches - the head coach cannot be initimately involved in specific player development beyond a few positions he focuses on (perhaps a position a coach played himself).
