If you could pick the starting 5, who would they be?

LT: Pocic
LG: Maea (sp?)
C: Dodd
RG: Clapp
RT: Weathersby

Maybe Brumsfield at LG and Maea at RT.

I think Miles has commented that Maea Teuhema would be working in at LT.

how do you have Boutte as a lone starter and have Clapp split with Brumsfield? Clapp beat out Boutte last year and was a VERY solid guard for us last season.

I think he's working at LT to 1) see if he can play tackle at all and 2) because Pocic is out.

I just don't think Pocic would have come back if they weren't gonna give him a shot at tackle.

I tend to agree with this. Maea may have one more year playing LG before Miles promotes him to the coveted LT position if he can play it at all. I think most top lineman come in with ambitions to play LT and make the big money.

I agree with you - also think the 5th starter (outside of Pocic, Teuhema, Clapp, and Weathersby) will be a guard. So you let Maea play outside while creating some side-by-side competition inside for the last starting spot.

Is this more to your liking? Hope this gets your panties out of that wad they are in.

what's the scoop on Boutte? he's been here awhile and his starts last season were not that great as he was replaced fairly soon.

i'm pulling for the kid; just curious.

Boutte needs to improve conditioning and mature. He has one more year to play. He is a massive human being. At times he has been effective. The offensive line is really deep with capable players. We will probably see a bunch of guys play this year.

With KJ Malone being the utility guy who can play any position needed.

Is Pocic still recovering from surgery? Will the lack of spring football have an effect on his ability to work in at LT?

Clapp is the 2nd best C on the team and one of the Top 3 OL with Pocic and Tehuma.

1st/2nd
LT - Pocic/Tehuma
LG - Tehuma/Clapp
C - Pocic/Clapp
RG - Brumfield
RT - Weathersby/Valentine

Y'all do realize that Ethan is rated as the No.1 center and will be drafted as such?

Vadal was rated as a much better Guard last year but still played tackle...

Not to mention, the kid is 6'7 and built to play tackle.

Much Better

it just didn't make sense to slash the incumbent and give the guy who played his way to the bench last year the solo nod.

If he was going to play tackle, it would have already happened. Outside of Lael, he has been our best lineman and may be better than him. The league has been putting a higher value on centers because they're the ones making the calls for the line.
