Reid gave up more than one TD yesterday.

I'm not sure what game you were watching. The safeties looked bad on many occasions, especially against the run.

It is going to take a very good week at practice for yesterday's defense to be ready. The staff is going to have its hands full.

Childs being out is a difference maker, IMO.

. Our offense found some it's self yesterday with the Ridley & Ford combo. RR and DP have emerged as our best WR's.

2. R.Shep is not yet living up to his potential as a WR and he has been a non factor lately.

3. We have found out that when we open up the playbook, good things happen. That pass to Clement was a beauty.

4. Our Freshmen on Defense were exposed yesterday and the overall "D" need some rest and fresh legs.

5. After watching the Arkansas/ Miss State game, the hogs will attack us early and they will continue to attack.

6. We have to hit Mallet hard early in the game and make him hear footstep for the remainder.

Let's review this. The first is ok. Number 2, Shepard as a first time receiver caught three of the sixteen passes completed. When he is in game, it forces the defense to respect his rushing and helps the running backs.
4. The Freshman were not exposed. We do not defend well against a running QB. Even the seniors are struggling. The last TD by Ole Miss, was the corner blitz by number 14 and Reid got caught looking like he was in a zone instead of man coverage. As to fresh legs, we had nine people playing the four man DLine and we had constant changes in the defensive backfield. Other than Sheppard the MLinebacker, who played every down, we are fine.
5 and 6. ARk does not have a running QB. They play into our strength. Mallet may not finish the game with our blitz package and Dline.

what happened vs. ole miss is of little consequence to Arkansas...much like Auburn and Alabama

I doubt Nick Childs would have made much of a difference...

I completely disagree on both counts.

Arkansas uses Davis well enough to keep us off balance. Slot receivers will fill the holes our blitzing LB's leave, much like we saw versus Alabama. Safeties will need to cover a lot of ground, and still be aware of run support.

I trust Petrino to have a great plan after watching film today.

Childs probably would have required man under, and without him, it helps free a man up for sometimes when the situation calls for aggressive play.

you're thinking of Taylor...Childs got kicked off the team a few years ago for smoking dope, if I remember correctly. (oops)

the big difference in Arky and Ole Miss/Auburn, is their use of mis-direction and trap blocking...Arky is more along the lines of Bama with Ingram and Richardson. It's a completely different task...although I'm sure Arky will get some yards, they have one of the top offenses in the country.

Defense doesn't look too tired to me. The 2007 NC defense was WAY more beat up than this one coming into the Arkansas game.

I remember Nick Childs, but he never played WR for Arkansas.

I watched the Arky-Miss. State game (so pulling for State) and Arkansas can be stopped and we can move the ball on them.

let's not over-react to yesterday. Fact is lsu has real problems against option-read offenses...and are VERY good against pro style power running games. Also, our offense played the worst D in the SEC, so i wouldn't exactly draw a lot of conclusions on that success. I think they should also do well against arkansas...but don't forget ulm last week.

I'm usually a glass half empty guy, but I do like our chances, if the defense shows up prepared to play.

Every game with Arkansas goes down to the wire, this one shouldn't be any different.

I remember at the beginning of the year there were some articles that talked about changes to practice philosophy that were supposed to help stay fresher during the season. It was kind of related to changes Miles brought in when he got here that a few people thought might have caused us to be more worn down as the season went on. Chavis and Gonzales were big parts in persuading MIles to change practices this year. It seems to have helped, but I cannot remember exactly what was changed.

Does any body remember the details?

Pressure on the QB is the key to the game. Mallet doesn't like to be hit.

No. This defense is going to sacking and picking Mallet all day long. they will be too pumped up to play to give up now.

no plan needed. Sack that immobil quarterback and when you cant sack him hit him or bat the ball at the line. If the ball happens to get past the line of scrimmage intercept it or defend it.

LSU WILL NOT STRUGGLE AGAINST A PASS FIRST TEAM
