I've personally been surprised by how many LSU/SEC fans just assume they're going to beat Oregon by 10+.

Preparing for an entire season isn't the same as a bowl game. If LSU spends too much time just studying Duck film they won't be ready for their SEC games like 1-2 weeks later. Bowl games provide 40 days to study just 1 team; can't do that when 11 more games follow.

I think LSU got a TON of help from PP's kick returning and Jasper's FG kicking last year. Special teams won't be as good this year and LSU gained a ton of momentum in 3-4 games with it last year

Ungodly backfield huh? Yeah not so much. Your so called "speed" will only get you so far agains our defense. How much did James rush for against Auburn? Oh yeah, I remember, 75 yards. Yeah, that's ungodly

And didn't Oregon play 2 SEC teams last year?

I know Tenn was bad but even as bad as they were they almost beat LSU at LSU and Oregon beat Tenn by 30 at Tenn.

I'm pumped for the game b/c of the contrasting styles

I find all the beat down talk a little embarassing.

Oregon is a very good team and we always start off the season slow and out of sync.

Our defense has struggled mightily with miss direction and speed. I think we'll do okay offensively but worried about the D, scheme and getting gassed from the uptempo.

Folks like talking about the Auburn game vs. Ducks and thinks we'll do well as a result.. Chavis likes to play read and react which has cost us dearly. Auburn whooped our arse up and down the field and gashed us for 460 yards rushing (the single most total given up in history of LSU football).

NC was missing 1/2 their damn team and most of their super players yet it came down to the last second of the game.

Me too. I think a lot of people on here don't know much about Oregon other than the uniforms, and the Championship Game.

They played Auburn about a good as anybody did last season. They made Monte Kiffin and a team full of studs look stupid. They made a well-coached, very good Stanford team also look stupid.

I don't care what conference they play in, I don't care what LSU's record against the Pac-10 is. It doesn't really matter. People that think we're just gonna walk all over Oregon are in for a rude awakening.

Fans for both sides keep talking as if the teams that play on Sept 3rd are going to be the same teams as played last year.

Both sides are overly optimistic that the new guys are better than the old guys.

I think Oregon fans are even more delusional in thinking they'll be the same or better as last year - they lose much, much more on both sides of the ball than LSU - but LSU fans suffer from the same delusion in regards to the top 3 defensive players and special teams.

This thread is going to be amusing (for one team's fans) to read in a month.

4)Big 12(- 2) (because they cannot count)
5)MWC
6)WAC(has always been this way for a while but soon will drop below Conference USA with their best teams leaving
7)ACC(might make a resurgence, time will tell)
8)Big Least
9)Conference USA
10)The rest...

yep, such a slim margin, that's why the SEC has 7 of 13 BCS titles... and the PAC-whatever has an asterik and a loss.

Big 12 was the second best conference, now it's the Big 10.

I think that's pretty common in my experience of the LSU fanatic to disrespect and underestimate opponents. It's why we get so upset when we lose, cause we build LSU to be so much better.

Now, I'm usually just the opposite in that I"m a bit cautious in my analysis of LSU and generous in that of opponents, but in this case I just think it's a good matchup for us and we win in a fairly competitive game but by a comfortable margin.

It will be close for 3 quarters but Oregon won't be able to sustain an attack for 4 quarters. The defense will start teeing off on them when they get tired.

We always start slow. That's when Oregon scores. Likely, we'll be catching up through first half. I expect we'll take control somewhat in the fourth quarter, but it WON'T BE A DEFINITIVE win. We won't come away feeling all that good like we did against VaTech.

They turn it on in the 2nd half, particularly the 4th quarter. They continue to attack at the same pace offensively while opposing defenses start slowing down.

We need to dominate both lines of scrimmage and control the ball to win this game IMO.

The reports out of camp early on indicate Moffitt prepared for this over the summer. Multiple reports of LSU players showing up in the best conditioning of an recent LSU teams.

From the Modern Football Era(the BCS)the PAC has won 12 vs 10 SEC. The SEC was favored to win 12 of those games but only won 10. Also one can see the PAC is 14-7-1 against the spread vs the SEC.

care to quote LSU's record vs PAC10?
