I cant stand defensive coordinators in the booth at the collegiate level and think the they need to be on the sidelines in players faces and getting them hyped all game. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Orgeron is, but how about Steele? I read an article saying that Steele is very passionate.

I think Steele will be in the booth calling the plays for Coach O to signal.

If Coach O isn't on the sidelines, we're messing up.

I don't know what Steele did at Clemson tbh.

ETA: But I assume booth. It would make the most sense.

Clearly Ed will be and Kevin I don't know. Cam is always up there and I'm not sure I like that. You can put smart x and o guys up there that don't even have to be coaches if I'm not mistaken. Nothing against young Kragthorpe but last year he seemed to be the connection between Cam and the young QBs. I could live with this with a veteran QB. Our guys needed some face to face with somebody other than a smart QB behind our guys on the depth chart. Hell Mett used to go to a cubicle at least in 12.

Yeah it looked like Kragthorpe was always relaying Cam's instructions to the QBs. Preparing to be a future coach

Let's see if I understand you, Mr. Coach of the Year.
You want to take the coaches that see and work with the players every day, one that knows the strength and weaknesses of each of his players. One that has schemed around those strengths and weaknesses as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the other team. Ones who have put together a game plan based upon many years of experience and intensive film study and replace them with, "smart x and o guys".
Is that about it?

Both will be on the sideline for games. Chavis liked to stay in the booth to be able to eat during the game, he also liked to hit the bathroom on third downs and late in fourth quarters.

Yes Gray that is exactly what I'm saying and I usually respect your comments. This system works for many college teams. Those smart X and o guys are employees of the university as well and are in constant conversation and film study with the coaches. They relay down things they see from their vantage point up high to the coaches in game.I assume you notice coaches have headsets on the sidelines. Then the coach makes adjustments and relays this to the young players face to face. Perhaps you would rather have a walk on kid buried on the depth chart relaying the message to the players actually playing the game. I for one would not. I would prefer the coach.

Edit for Gray

I hate to side with the previous post but Bama comes to mind. Both Kiffin and Smart are on the sideline.

I have favored the pressbox myself.

I waiting for the game where you see Ogeron "hyping" the suck out of the quarterbacks. He doesnt strike me as one to sit back and watch his defense play 3/4 of a game.
