When do y'all think he will get his chance to start instead of subbing in? Seeing how explosive and big he is. I think it'll be week one he ends up starting

According to press releases, Key weighed in at 240 this week.. which, while very impressive for a freshman, and even more so for a freshman who was denied the opportunity to participate in the summer, is light for an every-down DE.

He would get abused in the run game... but he can be a Myles Garrett or Rahim Alem for us in his first year as long as he doesn't try to take up placekicking duties.

He would be one of the very few to ever do that here, but I could see him working his way into third downs as the year progresses..

To put in perspective, Quentin Thomas started three games at DT last year, as the only upperclassman in the depth chart. By week 4, the freshman Godchaux was starting, and ended up starting 10 games on the year.

This year, LSU comes into fall practice with two juniors listed as the starting DE's, neither having really distinguished themselves as of yet(Bower and Neal). If one of those ends plays as poorly as Quentin, it could be as early as week 4, as recent history has shown (that also assumes none of the sophomores get a crack at it first, which they almost certainly will).

Doubtful. Very talented but has a learning curve still, and needs to continue to develop physically. I do think he will be a good pass rusher for us immediately though. It's unrealistic to expect a freshman who was not here for spring or even summer(got here 2 days ago), to step in and just take over.

FWIW, I think Bower and Neal are going to be really good for us.

Key will get used a lot in passing situations, perfect package type player. Who knows if/when he becomes an every down player, but it definitely won't be game 1.

Les did say Key will play a lot of snaps, but he has also talked up Bower and Neal a good bit as well.

Mingo weighed #240 his last year at LSU. Key's 240 is spread out over 2 more inches than Mingo. Therefore Go to Hell Ole Miss.

Not to say I called it a few weeks ago but. I think he showed he can start. He might not be fully ready but he can
