I wonder if Aranda will go after spread teams like ole miss? I felt our defensive approach to the ole miss game last year was too tentative. Disruption of the QB rhythm is essential

His whole scheme is based on QB pressure and mismatches.........yes he's gonna go hard after spread teams

His philosophy is about pressure......all day every day.

Yes. Spread teams feast on the read n react scenario, but Aranda flips that script.

It's hard to go after a team like Ole Miss because Kelly gets rid of the ball so quickly. You really have to rely more on solid tight coverage over trying to blitz the QB. Ole Miss gave up 19 sacks in 489 pass attempts last season, that's a sack given up every 26 attempts, which is a team that rarely gets sacked. Keep in mind Tunsil missed like half the season, so it wasn't just great blocking by the line, they have a passing game designed to get the ball out of Kelly's hands within 2-2.5 seconds. They dont do any under center long play action plays or anything like that.

Nailed it. Difficulty with offenses like ole miss is they get the ball out quickly. Something I hope to see more out of our offense this year.

We're just not predicated do that offensively. Our deception lies in pounding on the ground then faking that and going deep. It is what it is but I dont see us turning into a spread quick pass offense any time soon under Miles. Especially consider the fact the WRs we've been recruiting. Not exactly short pass and YAC guys, rather tall long guys who can go up and get a pass in coverage.

But yeah, the reason nobody was sacking Ole Miss last year is it's tough to get to any QB when you have 2.5 or less seconds after the snap. Really need a QB to hold onto the ball for 3+ seconds to generate sacks.

You'll be able to tell a lot regarding picking the scheme to beat Ole Miss by the FSU game and the Bama game. They both have some maniacs rushing off the edge....hope Greg Little knows what he's in for. Can't believe Ole Miss set their schedule like that lol

The defensive approach the whole season was that way... it was a pathetic waste of talent

Put kelly on his back a few times, confuse him a little and let him unravel

Well the SEC sched is set by SEC and a chance to play FSU is pretty much take it when available, which is likely KO classic date.
No worse than LSU in 2011 with 4 of first 6 games vs top 25.

I would like to see the fans get in Kelly's head like they did bo. That was so much fun.

Aranda's Wisconsin defense played Alabama really well on several plays in the opening half. Low rated slow 2-star players were blowing their high school all american starters and beating them one on one. I would much rather see us use that mentality and attack with the risk of getting beat 1 one 1, over watching really talented players play reactionary all game. Kevin Steele's defense blows.

Just a feeling, but probably a result of giving so much space in those zones we played last year. Saw so many plays where players were so far off receivers.
