So $1.3M with no Miles clause.

My question is, since he has yet to prove himself in SEC, did LSU pay too much? His pay is only going to increase from $1.3M over his 3 yr contract.

I personally think LSU should have started @ $1.0M. I know some of you would say Miami was offering him that much. Ask yourself, what would his choice be between LSU and Miami. We could have easily got him for cheaper price.

That said, in grand scheme of things $300K is nothing if he brings that 2011 spunk back in this team.

Overpaid?
Did you see what Auburn paid Steel?
This actually feels like a steal..

Man, I love the rant. We hire a GREAT DC and now some are bitching because we may have overpaid.

If we went with a lower number and he went elsewhere and it was discovered then people would have bitched about being cheap.

Man this place never fails to deliver...

We're getting 500k from Steele leaving anyway, no way we overpaid.

There were vague rumblings he had a 1.2m offer from another school as well

Based on miles situation with alleva we are very fortunate aranda agreed to even come. I have no problem if we had to overpay him. I think he will more than earn his pay.

Kind of a pointless thread considering you weren't involved in the negotiations and you don't know what it required getting him here. Plus your assumption that any coach would prefer LSU over another school is based on the fan goggles you have on

Overpaid would be what LSU was paying Steele then Auburn decided to pay him. The guy has accomplished absolutely nothing as a DC to be getting paid what he is. At least Aranda has success everywhere he goes. Instead, Steele had arguably the worst defense at LSU in 15 years and you want to call Aranda overpaid? Please.

Plpus I would bet many of the downvotes he is getting people agree with me it is bitching.

Guys....I like your passion, but I am not bitching. All I am saying is that LSU is a far superior program compared to Miami. And any DC would love to come here because of the talent. Yes there is a wrinkle because of the miles situation, but they took care of it by excluding the miles clause.

Yes the money from UA will helps but there is no gurantee that we will be getting the Chavis money.

Look I am all for him, I didn't like the Steele hire at all. All I am trying to say is, that LSU is rewarding the guy before he even proves his worth in SEC.

I am excited about this hire and I am truley optimistic that he will be worth twice the money we are paying him.

Speaking of contracts; does (did) Aranda have one in his contract with Whisky? I don't recall it ever being mentioned?
TIA
