I know a lot of people here think Aranda is some sort of god.

How much blame does he get for Moses and Allen being currently committed to Bama?

*I do expect Moses to ultimately end up at LSU. No clue about Allen though.

Oh great so how do you see this class finishing. It sounds like you think you know what you are talking about so indulge us please.

Triggered the downvotes. Rest of the post is fine.

I'd say Aranda deserves very little "blame" unless he actively declined to recruit them.

I don't know the primary recruiter for Moses or for Allen but I don't think it's Aranda for either.

Maybe he should have been but I don't know who ultimately makes that decision.

I don't put a lot of stock in social media, but if you do, you'll be disappointed in Moses' twitter account. He's gone from all LSU to all Tide in 2 months.

Coach Petvo was recruiting Allen. We lost him the day he was fired but my suspicion is he was waiting to commit to Bama. Moses is coming home and I'm not even worried about it. But, I would love to see us battle for Allen. Taking him out of BR makes me sick.

ETA: Bama believes Moses might go LSU and countered by going after Allen. They have too many backers in that class.

I blame Allen and Moses. Grow up in the shadow of Tiger Stadium. See the love in people's eyes on a daily basis for LSU. And yet decide to not join the community and not only that, go to the one team that for the past six season has stopped us from reaching the promised land. It's like the biblical Moses getting to the Red Sea and, before parting it, saying "Screw y'all, I'm joining Pharoah."

They are young, impressionable teenagers who have been told they are God's gift. But guys like them, Eddie Lacy, Landon Collins, Tim Williams and Cam Robinson are a big part of the reason that Bama is a dynasty and we're the David here every year.

I really wish our state had more Kevin Faulks and Leonard Fournettes and less of the aforementioned types.

It starts with parents and the kids' coaches. Orgeron recruits parents and coaches while the players are still young. His recruiting strategy is detailed and unique to each player (helping them organize everyday things, helping get them enrolled in the right class, making sure they make the grades, making sure momma knows how he's helping her kid, etc etc). His recruiting structure in this state is deep and powerful, every other school now has to work twice as hard to get recruits in the coming years.

It's simple go with who's hot.

Some rather be Alabama's pet instead of their food.

247 has CEO recruiting Allen and Corey Raymond recruiting Moses.

Given the fact that Aranda is the DC/LB coach, he probably has a pretty key role in their recruitment though. The question is if he's NOT recruiting two in-state (sorta) LBs, does he not bring too much to the table recruiting-wise? Isn't recruiting the lifeblood of any program? Why isn't LSU's DC/LB coach bringing in elite talent?

I do get tired reading about how wonderful Aranda is. I like him. I respect. etc. But LSU's defense would be good under most DCs. Wisconsin's defense didn't fall off the face of the Earth-- not even close. He's an elite coach- but IMHO replaceable.

I wouldn't be surprised if Aranda himself would find a lot of the over-the-top lovefest for him on here a little disturbing. He seems to be more of a low-key, small ego dude. Who knows?

I only added that I think Moses ends up at LSU to acknowledge his recruitment isn't over yet and to acknowledge that LSU/Aranda could still get him which would remove any blame Aranda may have for his current Bama status.

With the guys leaving the program and Aranda coaching LBS, you'd think LBs would be lining up to play at LSU this year. Yet, two LA guys are committed to Bama currently.

People in general don't like uncertainty. Firing Miles, even if it was the right move, was going to have a negative impact on recruiting for this class. I'm not overly concerned, this staff will absolutely get it done and there is more than enough time to bring in what will still be a great class. I would not completely rule out anyone that they want to go after now that the staff is mostly set and expected to get even better.

I really like how Aranda improved the points against per game this year.

But isn't it a little ironic that the team our defense has completely dominated- Texas A&M- scored more points than any other SEC team did against LSU this year?

did you see this def with kevin steele? you do understand that the def coordinator for Wisconsin has the same players mostly as dave aranda which means they probably didn't change a whole lot sometimes you don't notice a drop off the yr after it takes a couple of years. great coaches make sure that the next man up has excellence. ask les miles when he took over for saban and you eventually saw it fall off yr by yr brick by brick. aranda is a dang good coach.

what would be considered ironic about that? lsu dominated that game offensively and gave up a few meaningless touchdowns late. also had several key players on D out for that game.

the defense has been night and day from last year in almost every area. just wait til these guys have another year to learn his scheme.
