Apology for... what?

Face the truth- Alabama had the better team, and we played our game of the season going in and beating them at their place Nov 5. They would beat us well over 50% of the time if we played a number of games. They absolutely stoned our power running game, and that nullified Lee- he was having a good year because we were running play-action off Ware's runs.

The ONLY thing that remotely worked was the Jefferson-Ford option game, and that was our only hope this time. That was why Ware got abandoned just as much as Lee did.

This time, that didn't work either. And we were dead.

I hate that it happened, I hate that we couldn't escape with the Nov 5 win and go on to beat any other team in the BCS- because we would have. But it is what it is. 2nd best team in college football.

"I realize now that my evaluation of our offensive situation during this game was incorrect, and that 9 was not capable of moving our offense. I realize that I did not listen to the counsel of my other coaches and players that we should make a change at the QB position, and this was a mistake on my part. I promise the fans and team that in the future I will remain more open minded to using all the potential of our entire team, when those around me agree that we need to make a change.

the gameplan was woeful.... the players don't tell the coach what the gameplan is...

The game plan never had a chance to succeed in the first half because of bonehead mistakes by the players. JJ fumble on 3rd and two on the first drive. Hurst's two false starts that put us at 1st and 15 to start two drives...and don't even get me started on the missed blocking assignments in the first half. We came out swinging on the first drive of the 3rd quarter until Hurst let Upshaw go completely unblocked to sack JJ and put us in a 3rd and 15 no win situation....once again the game plan was foiled by the players poor execution.

Bottom line: There is no way any gameplan would have been successful against Bama's defense with that many unforced errors.

I am old enough to remember Bryant at UofA.
When he had a game like we did the other night, he would meet the press and say "I didn't have my team ready to play, the loss was my fault".
There aren't many who do that now.

I must have missed something... Did other coaches actually tell Les to make the change?

Good question, Coach. No, I've seen no info of that sort. What I wrote was what I want to hear Les say.

Do you really think coaches of the quality of Krags and Stud didn't suggest bringing in Lee at halftime and in the third quarter? If they didn't, then we're all just pissin' in the wind.
