I respect both, in different ways. Miles is a '59 Cadillac you have to tinker with but you never want to get rid of it. Saban is the german engineered car that runs like a finely tuned machine, but doesn't have any "personality." Still, everyone wants it.

I respect both, mainly because of what Saban has done at LSU and at Bama. He had Dinardo to kickstart the program, but he perfected it. We all knew it would be easy for him to resurrect Bama, but he still had to do it and now the dominance is really starting to show.

Also, Saban was coaching all fours while I was at LSU, so of course, I will always be grateful for what he did and the best all time game that I could possibly ever attend as an LSU fan was during his tenure (BCS Champ vs Oklahoma). It just doesn't get better than winning a national championship while you're a student.

what would your top 5 be, and where would you have Miles ranked then?

Saying I believe there are five coaches better than Les Miles shouldn't, in any way, be viewed as an attempt to diminish Les.

Urban Myer, Nick Saban, Gary Patterson, Brian Kelly, Jim Mora, David Shaw are all outstanding game time coaches.

Les is top ten just not top five IMHO. But, to be fair, Les' results are admirable indeed.

I respect both and I am intrigued, that they are both extremely successful even though they have different styles, approaches and personalities.

I'd love to study how different they really are. What drives their teams to success.

I actually don't respect Saban. Exceptionally great coach, without a doubt. But respect? Nah...

I tend to not think too highly of liars, and the guy is a world-class liar. While I never resented him for taking the job with Miami, I did resent his now typical manner in which he did the deed behind everyone's back and did so late in the game forcing what felt like a potentially bad hire at the time. The fact that we got lucky doesn't let him off the hook for this.

I while I never begrudge the man his desire to leave the NFL since he was failing so epically at it, I did resent his cluelessness when he acted as if LSU fans had no right to feel betrayed when he decided to reappear in our very own division at a hated rival.

In short, I still kinda' hope he gets crotch rot...real bad.

Please stop. You are being entirely too logical for these morons that bash a coach that wins over 80% of his games.

I like and respect both coaches. They are both responsible for turning LSU into the powerhouse of the past 12 years. Of course the expectations are very high, as they should be, and the fans expect NC every year.

Saban is the best, but Miles is right behind at 2.

Both teams play physical football. That is why is it such a war when we play each other. That is also why both teams struggle the next week.

I respect both coaches and their differing styles. Right now I think Saban is clear #1 in college football but Miles is top 5.

Miles is easily top 5. It's not even debatable.

Most competent fans do. Most don't frequent this place though.

I respect both and appreciate what both have brought to LSU. I enjoy Miles more and am more pleased with the program as a whole under him. Saban might be a better game coach in some ways, but if he hadn't gone to the NFL and "matured" he may have impleded at LSU. Who knows? We need to appreciate what we have and enjoy the games and the stories behind them
