I know it’s not the same, but it has the same vibe. I hated the hardheadedness to change the defense then, and hate it today.

Not on offense. You guys seem to forget that he ran off both of his coordinators and promoted or hired his buddies to replace both of them. Both sides of the ball went off a cliff under him.

We had a functional defense last year, so there was no reason to fire House. We were a disaster in 1998 under Tepper and DiNardo should have moved on immediately. If Kelly keeps House you will have a point, but his track record isn’t to hang onto staff who aren’t cutting it. I think we would all be surprised if he’s back next year at this point.

If House is still the DC after the season.....BK has to know players and recruits could jump ship thinking there aren't going to get developed there.

Not really, BK will win just enough to stop the entire fan base from turning on him but never get over the hump, check his track record

No.

To suggest that they are the same is moronic to me.

A stubborn coach protecting his coaches while talking down to fans. Feels exactly like DiNardo.

If we don’t have a 10-win season it’s going to get bleak real fast for fanbase and BK.

Pressure is on BK to win out to salvage a respectable season. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I called that arse whooping yesterday (45-31 Bama in prediction thread; would’ve been dead on if not for missed FGs to start game) and I can already see how it’s going to turn out next year.

We play UCLA, USC, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Alabama… *good offenses* it’s going to get really ugly if 1) BK doesn’t win out this season, 2) does not fire Matt House this offseason. If neither of those happen BK is going to decline 3 straight seasons at LSU which is firable and sad considering how much wasted moolah were talking about. Going by win totals, we haven’t had 3 straight seasons of decline at LSU before since the 90s under DiNardo, so go ahead and put that into perspective.

Being a younger fan I’ve been spoiled not being around in those years. Time to call in and bitch out BK like that kid did Dabo. At least Dabo came out and beat ND after getting chewed out by that kid. One of us need to light that fire under BK since our media won’t do it. Only way he can prove to us tDecline isnt real is to finish this season 10-3 and improve on last season. Then we may have some momentum going into next year.

Again, I just don’t see that happening. After his one bad season at ND he cleaned house and they won 10+ games every year after. He demoted and basically ran off Denbrock at Cinci. He demoted Polian this offseason, which I think few here expected considering they’ve been close for a while. Kelly doesn’t usually stick with guys if it isn’t working out.

You realize we were down to like 70 scholarship players in 99 because of all the guys who didn’t qualify, got kicked off the team, or quit, right? Sounds more like O.

kelly moving on from his buddy polian ends this thread

dinardo lost morris watts in 98 and promoted Bob McConnell the WR coach to OC

he lost Carl Reese and hired Lou Tepper as DC

kelly has not done anything remotely like that

We will linger in the 8-10 win a year range with Kelly. I don’t see him reaching championship level.
