I mean purple and gold? Really? Back in my day, when men were men and women were things, blue and white were our regal, royal colors. An absolute abomination that that ever changed.

And while we're at it, why did our helmet logo ever have to go through gradual alterations over the decades? Blasphemy! We need to go back to numbers on helmets and no trim. We're not Oregon. We have traditions.

And don't even get me started on "Hey Fighting Tigers." Our fight song is "Fight for LSU," dammit.

ETA: fricking millenials.

Your post should be "nixed". Perhaps you too if you post this again.

Our fight song is "Fight for LSU"

"Fight For LSU" is the song played after an LSU score. It was written and published by Castro Carazo in 1937.

"Touchdown For LSU", a pregame refrain, predates the Carazo song. Huey P. Long wrote it in 1934; it's still heard today.

If in fact there is a traditional LSU fight song, it would have to be "Tiger Rag/ Hold That Tiger." It was a jazz classic dating back to the 1920's, and is always played as part of the pregame ritual, and immediately following an LSU TD. It seems to have been demoted from the status of official LSU fight song after Clemson co-opted it at a much later date than when LSU first used it.

Boyd liked the Blue and White. But love blue and live white sounds kinda racist.

Love Purple, Live Gold

Eh, unless you're Col. David F. Boyd, you probably wouldn't have known what he had selected as the school colors before they became Purple and Gold in 1893 since no one at the school told Coates that until Boyd returned from military service. No LSU team ever wore blue and white.

But I appreciate you delivering a little history for us.

Appears that your rant was greeted with negativity, & I tend to agree with the majority, so have another DV!
