after looking at steele's history, i see nothing on his resume that makes me think the defense will maintain elite status, no matter how many great players we trot out there. but i'll still enjoy the lsu football experience.

hopefully i'm wrong and he's a better coach now than in the past. saban certainly has improved since he left lsu. but that's a thin sliver of hope. with chavis, we knew that at the end of the season, lsu would have had a top 3 defense.

quote:

Championships in this sport are won behind the scenes off the field. Whoever (often times illegally) recruits the best players in the OFFSEASON gets into the chammpionship games. I refuse to faithfully follow a sport where a small number of schools have an unfair advantage prior to openning kickoff. Teams with best players win, not best teams.

Championships in ALL sports are often won behind the scenes, with recruiting/drafting/free agent signings, coaching staff hires, game planning, conditioning, motivation, etc. Teams that devote more resources to those efforts will have better chances of winning.

And you sound offended that teams with the best players usually win. Uh, yea, the fastest guy wins the race, the smartest kid gets the best grades, etc. Water is wet. Don't know why this bothers you.

no qb and a coach too stubborn to change with the times. How can you be excited?
