Anyone else excited about our future at QB?

Lee last night went 18-27, 66%, 2 TD's 1 INT (wasn't really that bad of a bad throw), with a 164.91 rating.
That's pretty decent, and he is already playing better than Matt Flynn last year, with an inferior WR corps. Wasn't last night his first start? He also showed really good poise last week when he shook off the 1st half pick, and came through for us in a tough road environment.
Plus there is this guy by the name of Russell Shepard coming in for us next year. He can run a little bit.

Yes, I had been waiting for Lee to take over at QB. No offense to Hatch, but I was embarrassed to have a QB that couldn't make a throw over 20 yards.

Yes. Lee is doing very well for a freshman.
Next season will be extremely unusual with 4 or so quarterbacks all in the mix, but I still like what we've got going forward.

The thing I got worried about was that long pass down field where I think it was C Mitch that had to come back to the ball, or it may have been Lafell, I can't remember, Lee looked like he struggled to throw it forty yards. The WR could have went to the bathroom and been back before the ball got to him. But JLee is our man. He will be a great QB..book it!

Lee will surpass Hodson and Jones if he focuses and keeps healthy. He has that kind of up side.
Smart and athletic. He has all of the tools necessary to be an All AMerican at LSU.
The recruiting litmus test at LSU is that NO ONE gets an offer unless they can help us win a Conference Championship Game. That means they think the kid can develop into a starter and influence a championship game in Atlanta.
That is a high standard.
Lee will meet that standard. He'll have a few bumps that will make us shutter, but so did Joe Montana.

Really?
I was thinking that if Lee continues to gain confidence and improve, he is the starter without a doubt next year, with Shep coming in to run the WildTiger and catching some passes in the slot as a WR. Garrett will be like Flynn or D.J. Shockley. He will redshirt, wait his turn, and start further down the road. Jefferson is like Marcus Randall. Serviceable if someone gets hurt, but not an SEC-quality starter.

I am enjoying watching Lee grow and anticipating him having a great year.
The only thing that worries me about QB is the upcoming meltdown on the rant next August with everyone touting Sheppard/Hatch/Jefferson, etc to be better than Lee because they saw a rivals video or saw one of them throw a tight spiral one day at practice.

Yeah, I agree. I thought we were fricked at the beginning of the year when Hatch was outperforming Lee, and thought all the Colt McCoy comparisons might be false. But nah, Lee's good.

It's inevitable. Russell struggled in '05 with some of the same problems he's having, decision-making wise, but after valuable SEC experience as a starter in the offense for year or 2, that only improves.

let's not get too ahead of ourselves here...like what I see so far though

With his inexperience, Lee will have some bumps, but he's got a serious arm. Best of all he seems to have the fire as well, playing his best when a big game is on the line (like Flynn).
...Dude, give the man a break. He's a true freshman. Let's let him develop before we pass judgement (no pun intended).

well, it's not that big of an accomplishment. Flynn was decent, but not anything special.
statistically speaking, though, Lee's game against MSU was about as good as Flynn was in his best performances

you're right, but that's just what I'm predicting will happen.
Randall was alright when he played for us anyway (bluegrass miracle). not like I compared Jefferson to Josh Booty or whatever.

Lee and Shep will be allsome.

Lee is doing a lot better than I thought he would. He has a quick release, strong arm, and is smart as hell, works long hours in the film room.
I think he will come into his own at just the right time.

that quick we release we all heard about him having out of high school is the real deal. i think he will get better with the more reps he gets. i hate to say it, but hatch getting a concussion might have been the best thing to ever happen to our qb situation.

I can make a pretty good case that Flynn was the best QB in CFB history.

where's Roaad? I'm sure he's excited about how Lee will provide a quality backup once JJ takes over in the next game or two...

He put on more muscle too. About 15 pounds. His arms are a lot bigger now.
