Southwest opened up their flights today through the fall. 6 of us booked 8am departure from MSY on Thursday morning and 3:35 return flight on Sunday.

I booked this morning non-stop to Chicago from New Orleans (Thursday AM to Monday PM). Opted for Chicago to catch the Cubs at Wrigley on Sunday.

$325 round trip. Just reserved a car rental through Avis for $297, but hopefully can find something cheaper when we get closer.

Hotel is booked on Lombardi Avenue near stadium and it required three nights, so will arrive in Green Bay on Thursday.

It was like $350 round trip from NOLA

Flying into Green Bay was like $550, but we rented a house in Green Bay about 1/2 mi from the stadium so we wanted to get there well before game day

DFW to Milwaukee non-stop $216 round trip on American. Leave noon Friday and return noon Monday. Booked it several months ago - about $350 now.

Question regarding Southwest Credit:

If I have X amount of $ in airfare credit from them...do I have to use it on a flight before the expiration date or just purchase a ticket before that date?

My credit expires in April, but I'd like to use it on the trip to GB.

I think the answer is "yes" and "yes". You need to purchase a ticket using your credit before the expiration date.

Southwest doesn't seem to fly to Green Bay--but does so to Milwaukee. I checked for flights leaving on 9/3 and returning on 9/5. The "Wanna Get Away" flights are now around $320 per RT, but you would have to lease a vehicle to drive the 118 miles from Milwaukee to GB. Interestingly, the flights from Pittsburgh (near to where I live) to Milwaukee are about the same. As an alternative: A RT Flight from NOLA to GB on American Airlines runs about $500.

So as long as I purchase a flight before the expiration date I should be good. Even if the flight isn't until later in the year.

Yes.

HOU to MDW for me. I will make the scenic Chicago to Green Bay drive on I-94.
