He was on After Further Review earlier today and he talked about how Cain was a nice guy but had a different philosophy coaching the dline. He even went on to say that Gerald Chapman was further ahead of Cain coaching the dline. He had a lot of praise for Lindsey and how he has taught him for four years and he fits what Matt House wants, LSU got a good one, and how LSU is better for it.

The rotation of Smith, Wingo, Jefferson and Guillory as well as Savion, Quency and Womack makes life pretty easy as a D-Line coach.

Jenkins: Cain doesn’t know anything

Payton: Cool, I’ll take him

That kid from texas will start at d end. True frosh won’t be able to set the edge compared to a guy that’s built like him and has the experience

House was not a Cain fan but Cain landed an NFL gig so who knows.

Dline is 90% talent anyway

One of biggest issues w/ D Line was lack of ability to gain separation from OLine to rush passer. House asked Jenkins to come in and work with Cain to specifically teach this - 5 days straight.

Pete Jenkins is the "goat" when it comes to DLine coaching and technique. He is the guy head coaches call when they need any guidance or help with Dline play. From the NFL to colleges across the country. In Pete I trust!

One could say 90% of talent is technique though.

Cain's coaching was less important than his recruiting.

Lindsey will be judged on his recruiting. We're not a MAC school recruiting 3-star diamond in the rough types.

On the DL? Naw.

There's a reason Trayvon Walker went #1 in the NFL draft last year and Tyree Wilson went top-10 this year with a major injury and only 1 year of production. The only position that requires more elite physical skills as a barrier to entry is CB.

Cain’s recruiting wasn’t all that when he was where. I was expecting him to pull some big DL than what he brought in and how he was one of the best recruiters when we got him from Oklahoma.

He came up pretty empty handed on HS recruits and we needed them.
Not sad to see Cain go.
