Yeah, go to the Bama game.

Don't buy tickets for the visitors sections, just to be with other Tiger fans. Not worth it. Seats were 6the inches wide.

Cross the river to get nice pics of the stadium .

Check out the boats, if that floats yours.

If you stop and tailgate from your vehicle, be prepared to hear every possible version of Rocky Top blared from other peoples PA systems. All Day.

I am unsure how large of a person you are, but no matter, I would suggest losing 35-40 pounds before getting to the game so you "might" be able to fit in a seat

First. Tennessee is doing a " orange out" so bring sunglasses...Now on to seriousness. It depends on if you want to stay in knoxville all day or not. Ive suggested to many people on here it would be better to stay is Gatlinburg, spend time there. Then go to the game. But im not sure you would have time for that if you didnt stay in gatlinburg then drive to the game.

Neyland is the most disappointing stadium in sec, def golf crowd but def one of the most scenic and beautiful backdrops

Tennessee has been my favorite road trip so far. If I weren't going to Dallas, I'd definitely be heading to Tennessee.
Calhouns by the River will likely be packed with purple and gold all day Saturday.

Hope you enjoy your trip. I agree with most here about the size of seating. It is a joke. But Neyland is a great place. Alot of history in that stadium. You will hear Rocky Top about 10,000 times that day. If you end up on the strip check us out. We tailgate behind Walgreens on the strip. Big green F250 with a couple tents. We love tailgating with LSU fans. They really know how to do it.

One of the best times of my life was a camping trip in Panama City were we camped beside a family of LSU fans. You guys take it to another level.

yea, starve yourself starting now until after the game. Also practice sitting at an angle at your desk or home hunched over and for good measure have a co-worker or family member come sit behind you for an hour at a time or so with their knees in your back. Worst stadium in America. Its 106,000 seats crammed into a 72,000 seat stadium.

I've had great trips to UT. I agree with all of bgtiger's points. Especially the seat sizes, they are REALLY small. I will do the South Beach Diet to prepare for this game.

Trying to stay in Gatlinburg and drive to the game would be a freaking nightmare. If you have time you may want to go to Gatlinburg and drive through Cades Cove or play some Hillbilly Golf. If you are wanting to chill around Knoxville go to the Old City and have some drinks. Also check out Fort Sanders Yacht Club LINK / How old are you and what do you like to do ? If you are young and want to stay wasted stay on the Cumberland AVE Strip. If you want a good steak go to Ye Olde Steakhouse. For a pretty good pizza go to Tomato Head. Make sure you go down to the Candy Factory and get some stuff. That is pretty much on campus. Barley's in the Old City is a pretty cool place.

Tennessee has been my favorite SEC road trip so far. The campus is nice, the people somewhat friendly, and the stadium is beautiful. But they aren't lying about the seats...it is ridiculous! Not to mention that I have never been that high-up in my life without being in an airplane or the Empire State Building.

gatlinburg is nice. the stadium is the worse. right on top of each other. no enthusiasm unless they score. very boring crowd. Ive been to their " florida" game, not even close to anything we are use to in TS. just got to make the most out of it.

Watch out for these people: LINK /. And, don't stay in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg or any of those other tourist traps. Try the Hilton downtown and walk to the game along the river like you're not a hick.

Went last time LSU played there... Vol fans were obnoxious everytime they did something good.... cleared out quickly after LSU won.

They are not kidding about small seats. They are terrible!!!

so are these seats worse then the cotton bowl?

thanks for the advice

I am staying with a friend the Friday and Saturday. I am on my own the Sunday and flying the Monday. Downtown Hilton sounds like the answer.
