If he was great for the Saints, why is he leaving the Saints? Did they end his job position, did he get fired, or is he getting a nice pay raise at Lsu? Or did he just butt heads with Payton and decided to move on? You would think the Saints would be paying him more.

I'm not going to re-post what has been on the rant multiple times, but he came highly recommended by Payton and Brees. He was the guy that put together their gameplans each week.

As for why he came here I would guess that he is being given an opportunity to prove his worth to be the future OC. Carmichael isn't leaving the Saints so that opportunity doesn't exist there.

Probably a guy

But yeah this seems like a step up and a way to get more responsibility and move towards an OC position.

They guy is 28 going on 29

So if you’re hiring a guy to eventually take over at OC this is the kinda guy who would take that role.

Thanks Bayou for the info. Makes sense to me. Probably more rewarding to build on a college team than working for a bunch of spoiled millionairs.

Brady spent the past two seasons with the New Orleans Saints as an offensive assistant. He worked primarily with tight ends in 2017 and quarterbacks in 2018.

To the OP of the thread, he worked with Brees primarily in 2018. I know that's obviously not work on things like mechanics and development and more educating the QB on the upcoming opponent's tendencies so we aren't talking QB coach.

I have said this in other threads, Brady will make his mark in the QB's preparation for games week to week.

Throw a bunch of quick hitting passes off the RPO. And get rid of 2 drops per game. Should get Burrow just over 70% completions (do the math)*.
And should also help our O-Line a lot.

*eliminate 2 drops/game & replace 4 ultra-slow developing pass incompletions (per game) with 4 short quick completions (RPOs screens) puts Joe over 70%... 219 (57%) of 379 (61.2%) versus 271 of 379 (71.5%)

Young guy with aspiration for furthering his career. You think he was going to become the OC for the saints. Really don’t think so, now started in the college ranks got NFL experience to become a WR coach/passing game coordinator. I’m pretty sure OC will be his next stop than head coach another Link Riley looks too be. That’s why he would leave the saints. Just my opinion.

I have the names, but I won't divulge them. I don't know if the source is correct and I don't want to say unless I am 100%

I believe he will work with QBs, he did in NO

Working alongside Brees in developing the offense isn't the same as developing QBs.

Joe Lombardi is the QB coach.

This is what I'd like to see. For years you have a team down the road that can set up and run a screen and LSU looks lost when they try to do it.

Hopefully his contributions will help us get the most out our freshman backs this year.

You know there's not a lot of bitchin about this hire. Unusual for TR. Kinda making me feel really good about this development and what might follow!

I believe only time will tell on just how good he calls the plays in the pro's and using screens in the offense like the saints have done and see the knowledge he possesses
