I mean, in time for the Alabama game. I would assume the folks in Birmingham would want LSU to be at full strength for the big game, right? Given that the NCAA took about a week and a half to clear him, it seems like 10 weeks should be long enough for the nice folks in Alabama (the state, not the school, not to confuse them or anything).

I heard a rumor that the SEC is considering him a partial qualifier and that they won't let him play until he has at least 1 semester under his belt.

It is complete BS. If the NCAA clearinghouse said he can play, he should be able to play

At this point, it's a lost cause for this season IMO.

if he can play in one game it'll be worth it.

he'll only be at LSU for 2 more seasons

He is in the same boat Brian Bridgewater was in, he will not be eligible until next year.

I hope many of you are right, that this kid can come in and dominant as a true freshman. Few can even contribute at DT in their first year...Dorsey I get, DG would probably not be playing if the RS freshman were very good, but he is getting better.

TV 's situation is bizarre at best.

Educate me please...how can this kid be cleared by the NCAA and not the SEC. Isn't the SEC a part of the NCAA? What exactly is the problem?

The SEC office is not going to approve a player right before the Alabama game.

No, he probably will not play this season. He and LMAO will be added depth for 2015.

Since the NCAA cleared him, what would happen if LSU decided to put him on the field anyway before the SEC approved him? Can the SEC make a team forfeit games?

he's NFL 1st round talent.

Added depth? Chavis is going to build the 2015 defense around Valentine - he's a difference maker. Depending on Garret's progress, we may see some flavor of 3-4 next year, if we can develop another 3-4 DT to rotate with Valentine - but I'm just speculating as Chavis has not run a 3-4 to my knowledge.

We have enough of a mix of DEs (some of whom could play OLB in a 3-4 - heck, Hunter is a great example), athletic DTs who might be able to play one of the end spots in a 3-4 (Herron, Bain) - but I'm not sure we have enough DTs like Valentine to pull it off.

But, it might work - it would be a shock - LSU hasn't played a 3-4 since Tepper, but Saban was planning it before he quit.
