I was an usher from troop 478 in the early 70s. Lower southeast corner. We had a lot of visiting fans in that section.

I ushered for the Boy Scouts representing Troop 59. I remember when oranges were thrown onto the field as we won a spot in orange bowl. I remember Archie Manning playing with a cast. I could remember getting excited to put the Boy Scout uniform on and then how we did the LSU chants on the drive to Tiger Stadium. I could remember on the way home - we would listen to "I've got a TIGER by the tail" and stopping at Lambert's restaurant on Airline highway. But more than that, I remember just being with my dad as he was the scout master. GREAT GREAT memories.

Used to go to games with my cousin. His dad had tickets on the 45, my cousins in the south endzone about two rows from the scoreboard. The fricking end of quarter horns would get me everytime. Anyway, at half alot of scouts would congregate into this area to watch the rest of the game. Not many old timers up there but there was a few. One game I asked my cousin if he was ever in the boy scouts and he said no. He returned the question to me and I said I was. He asked what happened? I said I got kicked out for eating brownies. The two old timers in front of us turned around and started laughing there arse off. Good times.

I had no clue when I started this thread that I'd get this many replies. It sounds like all my fellow scouts who have replied thus far had as much fun and their own share of funny experiences being an usher. Makes me wonder if this is unique to Tiger Stadium or is it a common thing in other stadiums and their respective programs

Ushering is how I got to go to the Georgia game in 03.

I ushered a lot from 01-03.

They said don't take tips from people you helped. I took tips..

YEP! I was a scout back in the late 70's. We held our meetings at St. Alphonsus in Central.

The most memorable game I ushered was a night game in the cold and FREEZING rain. I remember the rain starting about fifteen minutes after the announcer said "chance of rain, NEVER". I was never so glad to have a rain poncho in in my life. We were still soaking wet and frozen by the end of the game. At the time I was miserable, but I'd go back and do it again in a heart beat.

I did and remember the Ohio State game and got to meet Brent Shitburger. Well, it was not the best of the days I worked TS. that was the 1980's.

Tyger Tyger, this had to be the Wyoming game in 1978. Bitter cold and the first rain in years. Nasty night.

but in time these trips to the stadium, as a young kid, made me a die hard LSU Tiger fan.

This is true for me as well
Ushering from 1996-2002 (Troop 205 -- near student section) is why I'm crazy for LSU football

Ran on the field for the Florida game in 1997, and the Tennessee game 2000.

Then the cops got smart the next time the fans got on the field.....they surrounded the goal post.

1983 troop 205 panther patrol. Tigers beat Washington 40-14. Guy behind us screaming" huskies eat yellow snow all game". No idea what he was talking about then.

I did in the early 80s. Good times. I also earned my first aid badge helping paramedics in TS. It's incredible how many people we had to pick up and carry on a stretcher to the first aid station.
