When teams can't run the ball they will resort to passing. Pass defense is fine.

Passing for 100 yards is "passing at will"?

I don't think we've given up any huge passing plays yet?

I'll take them doing dunks and dinks and taking 7 minutes to move the ball down the field only to come away with being stopped or a fg. Defense has been playing nice.

Your concerns are invalid. However I will tell the Animator, but he may show no mercy on you.

When you get a big lead and teams can't run the stats against your passing d take a hit.

People have to find SOMETHING to bitch about. This shite is crazy. We faced probably the best QB we will face all season in Dak, IN OUR FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON. Dak was shut down in the first half. He started to take over as our defense wore down. In the second game we faced a pretty crappy QB and he didn't do shite against our defense.

Would it take us holding teams to 50 yards rushing and 50 yards passing for you to be happy? We just blew the doors off of Auburn...what more do you expect?

Most of the passing yards have been when we had a lot of backups in the game.

The key to passing yards given up is context. And based on the context of the first 2 games, meaning when and how the yards were given up, don't worry too much about the pass defense.

When you play with a lead, opposing teams tend to pass more. It happens.

Anyone have comforting thoughts on the subject?

State 11/19 for 100yds. 5.3 average.
AU 34/52 for 335yds. 6.4 average.

That's at will to you?

Thanks to the few of you who provided answers. I agree context is pretty important.

"at will" was probably a bad choice of wording. Auburn's numbers were really what I was concerned with, as well as the final drive or two from MS State.

To the morons who freaked out thinking I was trying to find something to be negative about, I specifically said it was the only thing concerning me and asked for positive thoughts on the matter. Chill out.

Passing offense is obviously the bigger concern. For all of the good things Harris is doing, he really needs to be more consistent in the passing game for this team to be elite.

If LSU's biggest "concern" is the secondary, then we should blow every team out by 30. The secondary isn't a concern. I'd say they are the least concerning group of players on the field, outside of Fournette. And even Fournette is probably a bigger concern, because we don't have other person that can do what he does if their is an injury. We have a list of DBs that can step in and play at a very high level.

Flip dem.

But yeah, MSU just threw the ball 5fricking2 times. They weren't getting s deep or anything. We completely shut down their read option and running game so they had to throw it as much as a June Jones offense.

Is there a group of ya'll that get together every Monday over coffee and talk about what shifty post to start on TDs or something? Jeez Louise.

Again, 11/19 for 100 yards. What concerned you? Those screen passes? Our DBs and LBs were all over that shite. They tried one deep ball and we picked it. If Adams doesn't look up we have a pick six. Their TD pass to Duke was on a true freshman DB giving our starter a rest. What are you concerned about exactly?

This is backwards, fyi.

Two things to the OP. A) we shut down the opponents rushing attack (both of whom are EXCELLENT rushing teams). 2) We had big leads on both of them. These two things will cause the opp to pass the ball A LOT. You think State wanted to pass the ball 52 times

We gave them yards to keep from a big play to give them points. It worked.
