From this overpopulated list of TE's on the roster, did any of these guys play DE (or DL) in high school? Any opinions on the possibility of one or two being tried as a DE?

No. 85 Dillion Gordon 6-4, 295, SR
No. 89 Desean Smith 6-5, 242, JR
No. 81 Colin Jeter 6-6, 236, JR
No. 88 Jacory Washington 6-5, 221, SO
No. 84 Hanner Shipley 6-5, 284, FR
No. 43 Foster Moreau 6-5, 237, FR

Smith, Jeter, and Gordon will all see significant time at TE so they're already basically out of the question.

Didn't Shipley actually play a little D-end in high school? Not that I'd move him there anyway

Thanks for the sentiment. On Dandy Don's unofficial depth chart, only six DE's listed (one of whom is suspended and the other not cleared) - so that leaves four. Must have two on each play so only two in reserve. On the other hand, six TE's of which only one is needed on most plays - leaving either 4 or 5 in reserve. Seems like a legitimate question, but apparently not on this board.

If either of the two move over DE. I'll be pissed.

Bower, Neal, Clark, Teuhema, Key, Washington, and at times Bain, are all DE.

We've got enough bodies at DE. Just not that experienced right now, but the only way to gain experience is to play.

And I think a lot of people are gonna be pleasantly surprised with Neal. Kid is as strong as an ox, very explosive, and relentless. He can play. Coach O said he can be a Trent Cole type of player.

Gordon is more of a TET. Tight End Tackle. People don't realize it, but he is quite valuable in our run game
