I'm not really talking about fan interactions because I've met him there. I'm talking more about how he throws his players under the bus consistently especially when PM fricks up himself and never calls himself out. I find it hard to respect someone who does that. I do think he's a good coach and definitely don't want to see him go. I'm just saying I don't like him as a person which is okay since he gets the job done.

He probably does it as a coaching strategy to maybe motivate players. I really don't know but I'm not the one who gets paid to do it either. Doesn't mean I have to like it either. I feel like if you're going to toss someone under the bus then you should have no problems admitting to your own frick ups as the head coach. I think it's very disingenuous how he treats some of our players. Let's be real here, he's a good coach but he's not flawless either.

Coach has always been nice to me in my interactions with him. Publicly he is a really nice person. Some players and their family members will tell you that there is another side to him.

I agree with you. He's a good coach and I did not want to see him go. Much like when you change pitchers, you don't know for sure what the next guy will have.

If I were interviewing Andy, I'd want to know why his teams stop hitting with RISP in the post season. Otherwise, he's a great candidate.

With the news last wk of the 3 stud players deciding to return to LSU when all 3 had pro options, to me, puts all the BS about CPM throwing players under the bus in a mean spirited manner to bed for good. And they are not the first or last players to do so. Some players/parents still have a travel ball mindset. With regards to A.C. I am a big fan. But he's getting a lot of applause for only having coached college baseball for 2 yrs. And it's not a push to say that some/a lot of his success has to do with the name LSU across his jersey. There is a ton more to being a HC in a Div. 1 college baseball program than being a great hitting coach, recruiter (see reference to LSU )and young & full of energy. Has he ever had to sit down & work out a budget for his program? Has he ever had to sit down & fight through all the BS with regards to only having 11.1 scholarships? Has he ever had to hire a top flight staff? Manage a schedule? His time is coming, no doubt.

Cmon people we all know Andy wants a HC job but Tulane would be #1 choice! We need to look at batting coaches

Seriously I'm looking for an original and interesting talking point in your tirade, but haven't found it. Basically what you are trying to say is that you heard your pals and you have read things on the Rant ( )and you repeat them.
BTW the "throwing the players under the bus" is pretty stale and trite by now.You birds need to come up with something new.
What is interesting to me is that Rantards seem to resent how he interacts with his players more than the players them selves do. You people are a very sensitive lot.

I think Tulane would take Cannizaro over Riser. Just my opinion but I think AC is the better option

no, but Skip wasn't a head coach before LSU
1984 there was about 6 schools that cared about baseball.
Terrible comparison.

There is no way that Tulane hires a head coach who only has two years as an assistant coach. I believe that Tulane will get a million dollars for the buyout of its current coach. So they will have plenty of money to hire a proven head coach.

Based on what? He's been an assistant coach for 2 seasons.

Goff hired his pitching coach, Ostrander, late last year. He was a good coach at Jones Junior College and if he doesn't follow Goff to Bama might be the hire.

He is from Monroe also.

I think he'd bring in better players. I think experience can be overrated sometimes. Having a better résumé doesn't always mean you're the better man for the job. Tulane can get someone with a better résumé than both of them,

I don't know a thing about this. Don't think Andy goes if it's real. I think he's a good coach who's young and new and needs time before running a program. I like his involvement. I think he knows what he's seeing in a swing but needs to find a way to convey the message different ways to different players. I think he will get there.

As for PMs personality, not sure how we got there. It's no secret he can been abrasive on the field. Hell, he would even admit that he can be an arse. I think coaches have to be at times. I just don't always agree on the how and when.

You're delusion if you dont think he'll be a factor. Tulane recruits nationally and Andy's connects both from LSU and his days in pro baseball are going to play a lot better than Matt RIser. Not to mention his last name is synonymous with Tulane baseball. I respect Riser a lot but Andy should not be discounted because he "only" has 2 years as an assistant. Tulane knows right now will be the only chance to land a guy like And.

Right, Andy is going to be a HC somewhere soon. This may be the only shot Tulane has at him. I guess only a couple people in this thread get it

Tulane will have a lot of money to lure new coach. I would think that head coach experience will be a must. Riser is definitely a coach on the rise. Just don't see Andy getting serious consideration, maybe an interview.
