LSU recruited and signed a boy I taught a while back that wasnt on a.... well he wasnt going to get a normal diploma. For instance, his math class sometimes focused on telling time and such. This isn't funny to me by the way. Great kid, hard worker that I believed/ knew/ that his work ethic and character, he would earn himself a nice living and life anyways.
the kicker here was he had God-given NFL talent; A monster on the football field.
come January, after the football season ended, the kid leaves school to continue his studies at our old faithful Dodge City community college.
All I could gather is this is a place LSU was giving out lobotomy's there!!!!
I wanted him to make it; but if he did, I would have given up at ever understanding how any of this shite works.
Nevertheless, he didn't make it:(
Sucks they dont have minor league football for these situations. I mean, I know they have options that could have worked like other little leagues but this kid needed guidance and a job.
only thing sadder is I know a couple other similar situations just like this where the kids were creeps and somehow the universities pulled it off

Did Thayer Evans write the article? I can't get to the link, due to work filters. If so, it has ZERO credibility, imo.

good call, Evans is listed in the byline with another guy. didn't realize thhe wrote for SI, thought he was at Fox.

Poor kid. If he had went to Bama he'd be playing.

My problem is the NCAA cleared him, so what's the problem. If its the other way around, with the SEC clearing him, and the NCAA not, I understand the bias perception....But not this...If I'm LSU, I would be at the SEC office raising absolute Hell...
My issue is, why have the n.c.a.a.? If conference has a higher standard then why do you need the n.c.a.a. to clear him?
This all stinks. I don't doubt the kid had academic issues. with that said, their are tons of kids that are going to major universities with the same issues. Those kids are cleared and playing. Just look at the kid that went to florida this year. (landon collins brother)
However, his academic issues are so bad that every school was still after him until the bitter end. If they were so bad and didn't have a shot, why did they push so hard. Usually, they back off when they know it's a lost cause. Hell, lsu did it with sentimore and lacy just a name a couple.
my entire issue has been, why this particular kid? if he is flagged, then why aren't a 100 others?

Screw Slive and the entire SEC office of Gumps.

I don't have a problem with the SEC reviewing and checking on the qualifications of kids beyond what the NCAA does.
I do have a problem when it is initiated by an opposing coach. I also have a problem when kids like Lacy miraculously get all the credits they need over one summer, and kids like Jerrell Powe can get into school at all.
as per the usual with the SEC, not all schools are equal.

St Edmunds in Eunice is about 155 students 9-12. What's the big deal about 247 students 6-12?
Wouldn't that make this school a single A school in Louisiana? We still have B and C level schools that are smaller.

Champagnat is a 247-student school for grades 6-12 and is located next to a used-car dealership.
What does this have to do with anything about the school. I despise "journalists" who pepper their stories trying to spin them hard one way.
Like Jacques Doucet saying that Jefferson beat up a Marine in Shady's. Garbage news. Trash.
edit: Yep Thayer Evans and Pete Thamel. Why did I click on the goddamn article?

There is a very nice pet shop across the street.
At least they haven't discovered that there is a bar across the street from John Curtis.

His byline is listed on the lead in article re violence against women in college football. I knew when I saw Oklahoma named in the article that it would be watered down and tied up in a Sooner bow. They mention DorialGB and Mixon hitting women, but the Okie AD explains about second chances. There is NOT ONE WORD about Stoops; not one datgum word. Can you imagine if Miles had accepted DGB into the program? It would be a nonstop Miles roasting.

Holy shite. You're a teacher? The grammar and syntax in your post were pretty bad, bro. I hope you're drunk.

I took 19 classes my senior year and graduated on time. So this person doesn't know shite. Plus colleges would have quit recruiting him if he really had no chance of qualifying.
