That our football team will not be as talented as they were last year? Do not misunderstand me, we are still indeed stacked. However, we are losing some outstanding talent from last year in key positions.
QB - upgrade
RB - push ( lost Stampley, gained Hill)
WR - downgrade (lost Randle, no new incoming stars)
TE - push
DL - downgrade (same as WR's, lost Brockers and same people from last year are back)
LB - Upgrade (strictly regarding talent, this is an upgrade even though it is still not a proven group)
DB - Major downgrade (obvious major loss of Claiborne, but many people are seriously overlooking the loss of Taylor and Brooks. We still have a vast pool of talent in our secondary this year, but this is the same principal as DL and WR. Major talent losses with everybody else coming back).

I could be wrong. We could have another incoming freak come along like Claiborne or TM7 who nobody knew of, but I can't help but realize how much talent we lost.

we should have a better offense and a not as good defense. the matter of degree will determine if we are as good or not. mett really is the key.

QB- Upgrade
RB- Push
WR- Push. Landry will take Randle's place nicely IMO
TE- Push
OL- Upgrade
DL- Push. Freak takes brockers place
LB- Upgrade
DB- Downgrade

The good thing about LSU is that they just reload every year. Players are so thirsty to take the place of the big guys that leave. This team will be hungry and dangerous. Can't wait for September

"if you think the defense will be as good as last year with the loss of Nevis, PP7 and Kelvin, you're full of shite and need to take of the P&G glasses"...The Rant about this time last year

Personally I think the d-line will be better because of experience and Mingo/Sam getting a little bigger. Depth should be improved as well.

I disagree. I think we're better because the actual RB's all have a year under their belts. I do not think the loss of Stampley will be all that detrimental. Copeland will assume the role of busting shite up.

WR - downgrade (lost Randle, no new incoming stars)

I disagree again. While none of the current WR's are stars, they have the potential to become stars - especially with Mett throwing to them.

Downgrade? Why are you giving any value to experience and growth?

A slight downgrade...maybe.

They will miss some obvious leaders but every year the next group has to step up.

They will miss players like Ryan Baker, Brandon Taylor, Ron Brooks, Will Blackwell, etc - those team first guys. That's what is hard to replace. But it's time for others to step in to fill those voids and that's what is developed during spring, summer workouts and early fall.

You are forgetting that players get better with experience.

This, if Mett is the real deal, we will be much better. The ability to keep plays alive and moving the chains will take alot of pressure off our Defense, and allow them to attack and be fresh for the first time in 2 years, for any extended period. Statistically, we could be much better on offense and Defense, even with the loss of some highly skilled players. I'm almost certain we will put more pressure on the QB's from the front 4, this year, and the lb's will be better at cleaning up the left-overs. I see no drop-off, but it will be different than what we've seen. I see more front-up attack, and less DB responsibility, at least in the early going. Offense, yes, it will be played this year.

Our guys are still developing and I am not taking that away from them. That's why my argument is on "talent", not Offense or Defenae being better or worse. Strictly individual personnel.

Like I said though, I could be wrong and see some younger guys step up that nobody really know about yet. I hope that's the case

QB- Upgrade
RB- Upgrade (Copeland will assume the role of busting %$#@ up - well said Rummy!). Also, Ware shouldn't disappear mid-season like last year.
WR- Push. If in fact we do throw agressively, our WR's will suddenly appear like voila!
TE- Push
OL- Upgrade
DL- Upgrade. Freak takes brockers place. Yep, and does anyone think that Sam, Mingo, Logan, et al have peaked? They'll all be better. May be the most talented DL in our/CFB history.
LB- Upgrade
DB- Downgrade. Negligible IMO.

Don't forget ST's: Should be as good.

How are we downgraded at DL? The only guy we lost is being replace by the Freak.....everyone else will be a year older and more experienced. I think that position will be an upgrade. Everyone should be more experienced at RB, so that should be an upgrade. I see your point with talent at WR, but we couldn't pass the ball last year like we should next year so there will be more production from that unit as well. The DBs will be a downgrade, but come on man, we have 2 all American candidates back there and everyone else is studly as well. It won't be much of one.

not could be, you are wrong. You logic is stupid. Its not a zero sume game, we lost Brokers, but have other guys in his place.

Take your logic back a year, according to you we were downgraded at DB from 2010 to 2011 because we lost Peterson and had "the same guys" back.

For Example on the DL we had A Johnson last year, but he will play a bigger role and freshman often et better as sophs so its not a "down grade" because we lost Brockers. some one will take over his spot, because its someone that was on the roster does not make it a net loss.

The defense will be a push or a tad worse, but still dominant. The offense, or should I say having a QB for the first time in years, is what will make this team better than last year.

What defense will think about stacking the box against us? It will be a pick your poison.

Win 3rd down conversions and rush for 150ypg+. Point, set, match. Exit left. Hoist crystal football.

The defense will be more dominant because there won't be as many three and outs by our offense. Rested and ready.

You have to consider that we gained experience at all positions
WR and DB are downgrades, but RB is an upgrade IMO just because of experience gained

I was looking through some STATS yesterday. Guess how many tackles Francois made last year.
