USL until they stop this nonesense about claiming to the university of louisiana. As long as they continue to lie and mislead people by just using and saying Louisiana or university of louisiana.
It seems to me that since they won't abide by the agreement then we shouldn't either.
I really wish ULM would get on them because USL is slighting ULM with this louisiana nonsense.

Good post. I have a diploma from both the University of Southwestern Louisiana and from LSU. While I was a USL, during USL football games there would often be sudden outbursts of cheering when nothing was happening on the field. Then we'd realize that LSU had just scored (students listening to LSU on the radio while in the USL student section). I never understood the envy from of the Lafayette folks. Be proud of what you have. If you are ever good enough to beat LSU in football, then you can claim to be mentioned as close to the same quality. Otherwise, forget it. And unless LSU really, really screws up, this is not the year.

the love for ulm on here stems from the fact that their not running around crying that they want to be something their not. Never heard of someone being scolded for wearing lsu gear on ulm's campus either.

Come on fellas... does is REALLY matter what they call themselves?!?! Shouldn't we be more concerned that we SHOULD be going into our 3rd straight blowout game but actually consider outselves lucky to be 2-0??
The Cajuns (I assume we can all agree on THAT name?!) are simply the next opportunity for the 2009 Tigers to live up to the off-sesason hype of both the fans and the media.

Will always be USL to me, the name thing was a bogus ego trip for politicians. The reason they ended up with ULL was because Lafayette High and Acadiana High were already taken.

I call them OOO-LA-LA. I like it, it's funny, and I also call them the GIPs (Guatemalan Insanity Peppers), since I first saw "Cayenne - The Spirit Pepper".

i remember i had a brother-in-law went there when he was in college and he always referred to it as SLI.......

I still say USL half of the time when in conversation. A hard habit to break and I'm not a militant when it comes to the name change. I'm happy for any improvements on the university, even if they're cosmetic.
If someone is screaming "UL" in your face I could understand being pissed. Unless you're a rabid ULM fan, the bitching about people wearing "Louisiana" T-Shirts is pretty ridiculous.

It was SLI when I was in school. I was told that it was a boarding school for juvenile criminals before that. I was told that the inmates were taught a skill, the predominant one was how to cut cane with a machete. It's always been that way.
