I think JJ is making $1.5 and there is no reason why we couldn't offer close to $2 mil. I don't think there is any way we go over $2 for the next coach.

You don't understand the sports business much. Basketball produces the second highest revenue in college sports. Just blowing it off is just plain dumb. LSU produces a solid revenue stream from basketball when it is winning. It would more than makes up for the salary of the coach and offers more support to the athletics department as a whole.

Try doing a little research before offering up a completely ignorant, on the surface opinion.

Save the money for other sports that most people care about. That is the prudent and responsible thing to do when you have a finite amount of resources.

What a load of horsesh#t! No one showed up for baseball before Skip Bertman. The place was empty.

They hired the right man for the job and we won several national titles. Now the place is packed.

LSU is about winning. If you win they will attend. If you lose they will not.

Hire a coach that wins and even better wins titles and we will become a basketball school.......AGAIN!

If that's the case, then why are there so many basketball-themed posts on this board?

I think most fans do care, and are thoroughly disgusted with the current state of Tiger basketball.

The approximate 15 to 1 ratio of down votes to ups thus far seems to be pretty strong evidence that the premise of your OP is complete bullshite.

You can always tell who the ignorant posters are in here. Basketball is the second largest money maker in college athletics. Nomatter how good the baseball team is it'll never make the money college hoops does and it's stupid to ignore that fact. Whether you care about basketball or not if you care about any of the other sports you should be supporting the basketball team and wanting success for it. He doesn't need to break any salary records but Alleva needs to make a good hire and get the basketball program rolling. There's no excuse for LSU to be sub par in hoops we have a brand we have plenty of in state talent and we play in a power 5 conference which means plenty of television exposure.

If the AD would commit to it, LSU could be a NCAA tourney team on most years imo. Have to move away from cheap hires.

The NBA has ruined college basketball with the one and done rule. It is waterdowned compared to what it was in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Hiring cheap is self-fulfilling. I was there in the early 90s. People care about basketball if it's good.

Oddly, LSU wasn't leading the nation in baseball attendance prior to Bertman.

I coach middle school ball. First year head coach. I just beat 2 teams in the parish that my school hasn't beaten in 20+ years. I'm thinking of applying. Thoughts?

Resume:
Manager with LSU basketball during college
1 year as assistant at NAIA school
2 years graduate assistant in PAC 12
1 year assistant at OVC school
4 years assistant at local HS
1 year middle school head coach

Can't be much worse than JJ right?

You're hired. We won't pay you much more than what you're making now though.

Deal...wait to have to talk to Daddy Dale or Temple? If so, I resign.
