Alleva cannot win in this situation. He goes out and demands the game is played and goes all over the media and he is labeled as insensitive and a bad human. A hurricane about to hit Florida and all he cares about is a football game. He can do what he did. Keep it all behind the scenes and let it play out. He did all he could to give viable options to Florida and offer them anything they needed. They said no thanks and we are at where we are at. LSU fans now look at him like he is a little bitch with no sac to stand up to Florida and the SEC.

exactly what I was thinking...I am honestly a little surprised at how shook up everyone is, considering the situation.

It sucks but it is true. I think the thing that everyone gets upset about is that UF's immediate response allowed them to get out ahead of this and shape the narrative. So of course at this point he is in a no win situation

We are at the mercy of Florida and the SEC in this situation. Alleva had no chance to look good according to the genius folks on the rant.

Fine whatever..
but now that we're not talking hurricanes he has to make it absolutely known how shitty it would be to play on the 19th.
and lobby like a boss to move the SEC champ. game back. or get the rules changed.
NOW.

He should also be out and front of the 6-1/7-1 prospect, but he isn't.

He's in no win situations because he's not a winner.

Frick Florida. They could have played this game. Im not insensitive to the hurricane, but If the script was flipped, LSU would have found a way to play.

There's no way anyone should even try to make this about Alleva, as controversial as he may be.

The SEC Championship game isn't getting moved. That would push the timing of the playoff committee and, subsequently, every single bowl game back an entire week. Way too many things would be affected by that.

Awesome post and you are 100% correct.

They are an embarrassment to LSU.

FALSE

just because the SELECTION of the playoff teams and bowl pairings is delayed a week, it wouldn't Impact a single day on when any of those games would be played.

I agree.

We all saw this damn hurricane heading directly at Florida. On Monday, Sankey should have forced Florida to seek alternative venues in the event the game is canceled.

Instead, the SEC allows Florida to lolly gag around and delay their decision 4+ times. Absolutely incompetent leadership from the SEC office

Depends on what seat you ate sitting in. Alabama thinks he did a hell of a job.

The selection is obviously what I was talking about. Do you really think all of the bowl games and playoff committee will be willing to put everything on hold for an entire week because one football game didn't get played? It's just not realistic to think that way.

While some may blame Joe for not putting the heat on, the real blame is on the SEC commissioner. The commissioner should have demanded that UF either forfeit the game or play in BR.

Who cares about national perception. We really shouldn't give a flying frick if the rest of the country thinks we're "insensitive".

Alleva is in a no win situation in this matter because that is the position he's put himself in.

I can't help idiot LSU fans who really feel Alleva fricked this up. He did what he could to offer options to get the game played. I know all you fans wanted him to just come out guns blazing putting everyone one blast all over the media but he did the classy thing not make him look like an insensitive person.

After watching Aleva's news conference, I think he has come out looking really good. He made a number of offers and UF said no. He said at this time he has not been contacted about a makeup date.
