Alex Box Architects Receive Award for Design

BATON ROUGE -- Grace and Hebert Architects of Baton Rouge has been honored by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) for its interior design of the New Alex Box Stadium, the home of the 2009 College World Series baseball champions.

The IIDA presented Grace and Hebert with its Award of Recognition for Hospitality Design in the Delta Regional Chapter. The Delta Regional Chapter includes Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi.

The New Alex Box Stadium opened on February 20 when the LSU played host to Villanova. LSU drew an NCAA single-season record of 403,056 fans to the stadium, as the Tigers led the nation in attendance for the 14th straight year.

The 2009 Tigers posted a 33-9 record in the 9,200-seat facility – including a 5-0 mark in NCAA Regional and Super Regional competition -- en route to capturing the school’s sixth national championship.

The Grace and Hebert Design team consisted of:
Kriste Rigby, IIDA – Project Manager/Principal Interior Designer
Chela Bilbao– Interior Designer
Sean Johnson – Principal Architect
Jody Gascon- Principal Architect
Robert Gray – Construction Administration
Georgia LaNasa Johnson – Intern Architect
Kyle Smith – Intern Architect
Tommy Dauzat – Architect

Special Contributors for the project include:
Jake Mayo– Project Manager for Buquet & LeBlanc Contractors
Sean Lasseigne– Superintendent for Buquet & LeBlanc Contractors
Greg Lach– ZE Designs signage
Stan Meredith and Greg Garlock– Consulting Architects with DLR Group

I just don't think an architect that forgets water fountains is worthy of winning a damn thing in the design world.

Thats probably why he designed the concession stands.

The world goes on without bottled water...but probably not in an architect's vacuum, I suppose.

That would be the interior designers...the ones giving the award

ETA: That would be a code issue anyway. If not required by code then the owner (LSU) can opt not to include them.
