Brad Bohannon fits in nicely with his fellow Bama head coaches and their exemplary character. And he definitely looks the part of a gump. Tiger bait.
quote:

Alabama head baseball coach Brad Bohannon, pitching coach Jason Jackson and trainer Sean Stryker are being sued by ex-Crimson Tide player Blake Bennett, who alleges that the trio ignored complaints of an injury by the pitcher during his freshman season in 2019.

According to a release from Bennett’s representatives, the pitcher broke his first rib during mandatory strength training soon after arriving on campus in July of 2019. The broken rib caused a condition known as Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, which causes numbness and pain in the arm and hand. Bennett says from the first day of practice he could not throw the ball with any control because of numbness and pain in his arm and fingers. From July until November, Blake repeatedly told the coaches and trainer there was something wrong with his arm. Rather than providing medical care as mandated by university policy, the coaches decided the problem was in Bennett’s head.

The coaches insisted that Bennett keep throwing. Coach Jackson instructed Bennett not to tell his family. Blake was finally examined by a doctor not affiliated with the University, who immediately diagnosed TOS and expeditiously performed surgery to repair the injury. While in rehabilitation from the injury and surgery, Bohannon summarily dismissed Bennett from the team. Bohannon said the reason for dismissing Bennett was because Bohannon could not get the bad images of Bennett throwing out of his head.

Sounds about right for that university.

Probably doing the same thing this season to some poor kid.

When I read the headline I was assuming it was going to be some entitled kid who didn’t want to work and couldn’t handle some tough love. After reading the article, the coach was totally in the wrong and shouldn’t be anywhere around college athletes.

Sounding kinda sketchy to me. Somewhere along the way the young man has to take responsibility and seek medical help sooner than he did. Very one sided story.

Ridiculous lawsuit. Not getting that MLB money, so may as well sue to try to get paid.

Programs like LSU and Alabama have exemplary teams of doctors on staff. Why on Earth would a coach hold a player from seeing one?

If thats the whole story then the HC & Trainer shouldn’t be employable any longer, especially at the D1 P5 level.

Win at all costs—Kind of trumps everything down in T-town. Not saying the same isn’t true in Baton Rouge, but we trust our medical staff.

This is the most believable thing from the whole story.

I find it interesting that the university mentions sports psychology help after the article says the coach thought the problem was in his head.
I know of someone who tried this a few ago and didn’t get much.

Hmm. Was looking at other articles to get more info and found this:
quote:

Bennett then transferred to Pensacola State College and eventually withdrew due to "intense, stressful fear of failure and anxiety each time he pitched," the lawsuit states.

After that, he transferred to Jacksonville State but was dismissed by the program without explanation after a matchup against Alabama in May 2022, according to the lawsuit.

Wonder what happened there.
