OSU got fricked.
Alabama beat how many teams with a winning record? How many did OSU beat?
No excuses for the bammers, now.
They will be destroyed in NO and I'll damn sure be there, whatever the cost.

These things happen
I recall LSU backing into the game in 2007 and fricking over a lot of teams as well.

LSU won the SEC. Bama finished second in the west and didn't play for the SEC championship. OSU - won the Big 12. Bama backed in, LSU did not.

its a distant memory but i distinctly remember this quote:
Anyone that doesn't win their conference has no business playing in the national championship game."
-Nick Saban, 2003

none of it matters now,
what matters now is that LSU is unstoppable, the team is even better than it was on Nov 5, bama is not

So did tOSU, but we managed to prove ourselves worthy by winning.

Saban was pussyfooting about it, but when he said basically "the lay over hurts", he was correct. Ohio State proved this two years in a row.
It just sucks...man, they really didn't deserve this berth.

sorta...and also by OU who did not show up for the game, their defense put no pressure on Weeden and just rolled over under OSU rush...not to mention all the boneheaded interceptions/QB fumbles.
I really think this played down the image of the Big 12 quality factor and hurt OSU's chance to gain out of that win on the Gumps.

that is why a playoff system is needed. there will be no such thing as backing in, it will determined on the field like in every other sports championship is decided in this universe

This is what I've been saying.
The first game came down to special teams play. It ain't like Bama has miraculously improved in that area since a month ago.

That's an interesting theory. I think they were more hurt by lack of a real quality OOC win, which would sort of dovetail into your theory.
