After further review, I like Etling and his fit in Cam's offense.

I was skeptical at first, but after reading what Steve Wiltfong and Barton Simmons said about him over on 24/7, I decided to judge for myself. After watching his Purdue tape, I like what I see. I'm not a QB expert, but from what I saw he's tough, knows where (and when) to throw the ball, and patient in the pocket. He's also mobile enough to run some zone read. I can definitely see why Cam likes him and I can see Etling leading this offense down the road. His stats aren't all that great, but they may be misleading because he was on a below average (that's putting it nicely) Purdue team. If nothing else, he'll provide good depth and some extra competition. It'll be interesting to see come 2016, especially if Harris puts it all together this year.

Oh yeah and welcome to Baton Rouge, Danny!

Only because he has to sit out 2015.

He'll definitely be "In the Battle" in 2016, unless the light comes on for BH and he suddenly and magically transforms into Jamesis Jr. during the season.

We don't know. Maybe he will and maybe he wont.

What we do know for a fact is that many LSU "Power Brokers" have had enough of the LSU QB situation. They've penetrated and gotten through the Joe Alleva-Les Miles-Cam Cameron "Impenetreble Fortress" to let their feelings be known........

If he was eligible this year, maybe he would see the field. Sitting this year, Jennings and/or Harris will have 1-2 years of starting experience over him. No way he starts.

Where did you get this stupid stuff from? He's a depth guy and will be lucky to pass anybody not named McMillan or Franks next year. What's more likely, is that the light comes on for Harris, or Jennings improves gradually from year to year like Brandon Allen seems to be doing.

So the "powers to be" brought in a QB that's no better than the two that are here now and that's their solution according to you? GTFO

If we go after anyone else it would be a project. Also you can almost garuntee AJ or BH (whoever loses the battle) will transfer after next season. People wanted BH to transfer this year no way we convince him to stay and sit the bench another year. If AJ wins the job and BH transfers then it will be a (Rs fr) franks vs (Rs So) mcmillian vs (Rs Sr) Etling. There will still be talent there and Etling would have a chance to play depending on how the other 2 guys progress in the next years.

we need this kid to be on the team. If AJ comes back and wins the job after whatever suspension, you have to think we have seen the last of BH. If BH holds on to it, you gotta think AJ will head our for a SR year somewhere.

Franks is not on campus, and who knows what we have in McMillan.

If Etling could come in and be a serviceable starter or back up, we should be happy to get him here.

If he beats out either, we should be ecstatic.

Anytime Les can get his hands on a QB who averaged <5 yards per attempt in the Big 10(11/12 whatever) he'll jump at it.

This is the kind of guy Les can use as a total scapegoat to explain why he runs it 54 times a game.
