LSU isn't in the position to complain about any QB they have. Our recruiting and development have been nothing for basically the last 7 years. He could very well start games in 17 if Franks isn't ready.

I don't believe Etling has redshirted yet so this will be his redshirt year. Making him a RSJr. for the 2016 season.

wouldn't expect much. He's there pretty much for depth and thats it.

Im not buying this yet. Etling could have transferred to any number of schools with a good chance to start and chose LSU. Obviously Cam/Les are telling him he'll have a legit chance to win the job, or he wouldnt come here. And none of our other QBs have shown anything to dispute that.

Hopefully Harris will take the job and run with it this year. But if he doesnt Etling will absolutely be in the mix next year. He'll even have an advantage- being our only pro-style QB playing in a pro-style offense. And i'd bet money that's what the coaches told him.

Etling has to sit out for one year, Jennings is out of the mix for now, so it is ALL on BH! He will get his year of experience this fall, and I do not think he will ever relinquish the job again. He will make mistakes as they all do, but you will see a growth and maturation process take place, and a strong running game and defense will take the pressure off of him.

I do not see how we should lose one game these next few years. Our talent and depth is THAT much better than everybody else's with the possible exception of Bama. We do not need exceptional QB play, just average QB play. We will get that plus some jaw dropping plays mixed in. SEC champs, with a final four appearance, I am calling it now.

The only thing this move tells me for certain is that Franks will absolutely be red shirting his first year and that he won't be required to be a major contributor (at least on the surface) as a Redshirt Freshman. And that's a good thing. He'll have two years under his belt before he has to be "the guy."

And you wonder why we have meltdowns. This is shameless homerism.

If you have been actually paying attention to LSU's passing game as of late you would realize it won't take much to compete.

The only year I could see him possibly starting is if in 2016 Brandon is hurt and Jennings leaves for some reason or is beat out by this guy and in 2017 Brandon is now gone from having such great years in 2015 and 16, Franks isn't ready and Etling starts as a RS senior. I like the move and we need to either keep doing this or have a qb already in the system at least two years bf he starts.

Why would the coaches bring him in if they weren't concerned about our jailbird QB and Harris? I hope I'm wrong but reading into this, I think we might have another rough yesr at QB!!!

Is this one of those threads where just because he's on LSU's team now he is good?

I work with some big Purdue fans and they said he has horrible pocket presence but a good arm. Said he could improve by sitting out a year under a great coach. Problem is I don't think he ever gets a chance.

After further review... I like any QB than can throw it downfield, not have a look of "i just got kicked in the nuts" if they throw an interception, and can stay out of jail...

I still don't get why Bergeron never saw the field last year - his juco stats were close to Mett's.
