But really did you have to get a janitor to let you in? I tried going in twice last month and there was no one around to let me in or any gates open...

I remember as a kid, in the 90s, going to the stadium just anytime throughout the year and running around the stands

welcome to the 2000's unfortunately. There are still many ways of getting in, but they require climbing etc.

indeed. but obviously not smart enough for the OP, so I want to know how he pulled it off.

one day last month i went over to alex box and the gate on the third base side was just wide open. nobody parked in the parking lot, no janitors that i could see, gate was just wide open.

Wish they'd do that at Tiger Stadium

ETA:

That was July 3

during football season, it's very easy to just walk into the stadium during the day.
otherwise, all i can really say is, climbing and traversing pipes will get you in

I'm willing to do that. And I can fit under the gates sometimes if they're raised up enough. How much trouble do you think I could get in? I'm a student, so I'd be risking disciplinary actions as well.

It wasn't nearly as glamourous as crashing the White House...I was asked to take pics for STRIPES. I made the same covert entrance as the other 300+ students.

I've heard expulsion. I've never been caught, gone twice. It was fun, but I'm not the adrenaline junkie so just hearing cops last time scared the piss out of me

Cool shot. Somehow the perspective makes it seem small. Ignore the negative vibe. It's usual around these parts from the poor natives.

I think it looks happy.

That's a big ole smile.

Can't help but think "Chinese Bandits".

Well, I drove by there just the other day, and there is NO WAY ON EARTH that place will be ready for 2011. I am assuming that gate was open so that the construction workers could get in and out???

I love that fricking stadium. I love the fact that it is dingy and menacing. Far better than some of the asceptic, characterless strip malls that pass as modern stadiums.

That was the first thing I thought of as well. Reminds me of Notre Dame's place in South Bend. It has a lot of character although I would like to see them fix the windows that are rusting and upgrade a few other areas. But as another poster said earlier when you are drunk, loud and winning it looks a lot prettier.
