Saturday January 21, 1995.

For some reason I have more memories of this game than just about any other. I remember being grounded, as I often was in those days (I was 11), and listening to WJBO on a tiny radio in my room. LSU was hosting Ole Miss after beating Alabama on the road to go 3-0 in the SEC West--the only undefeated team in the conference other than Kentucky.

For about the first 36 minutes the team just couldn't get it together, even in front of a packed house, with Ole Miss leading by double digits most of the way and getting up by as many as 13 late in the second half. Garrick Scott (anyone remember frickin' Garrick Scott?) got a dunk and 1...don't remember if he made the free throw or not-he usually didn't-but the lead was 10 at that point.

Then in the blink of an eye Landers Nolley hit 2 3's and all of a sudden the lead was 4. Next possession Ronnie Henderson hits a 3, and the lead is down to 3. LSU gets to within 2 with OM at the line. Some big guy for them misses and Randy Livingston goes the length of the floor with 7 seconds left to get the game-tying layup with one second left, 75-75...The sound of the crowd drowning out Hawthorne through the radio is something I'll never forget.

After quick start in OT, Clarence Ceasar hit what would prove to be the dagger, nailing a 3 to put LSU up by 6. We went on to win 87-81.

The next day WAFB had highlights of the game to THIS music, with a quote from Dale after the game: "Somehow they manufactured victory...they refused to lose." We taped both the WAFB segment-with Jordy and Rudy Macklin interviewing Landers Nolley-and inside LSU basketball, which I went back and watched countless times.

Unfortunately the team went on to finish 12-15, but I always remember that game as one for the ages-not based on circumstance or what was at stake-but just for being a truly epic college basketball game.

I've never been able to find any surviving video or audio online, so if anyone happens to know where to find it please tell me! And if anyone has vivid memories of other "forgotten" games that shouldn't be forgotten, feel free to share.

Happy Monday and

Was that the game where one of our guys hit a 3 in the final minute, then either he or someone else stole the inbounds pass and nailed another 3 for a 6-point swing in under 5 seconds?

I remember it. Great comeback.

And the two ugliest things on planet earth are:
1. Genocide
2. Clarence Caesar's shooting form

I remember that game well! I remember the next Saturday we lost big at home to Vandy and our familiar tailspin was on.

This team went on to win only two more games, vs Tennessee and Auburn, both on the road.

Landers Nolley, lol.

I don't remember that game but one of my best memories was Nix to Twillie about 8 months later. Then, a couple of years later getting to know Twillie during LSU and him hitting a car on that par 3 on the old front 9 (which he proactively ran over to car and offered to pay damages).

I sort of remember Landers Nolley and think (?) he was a lefty. I definitely remember Clarence Caesar and know he was a lefty. It seemed like all of Caesar's points came from the corner 3 or on a steal and breakaway dunk.

Ronnie Henderson had an effortless type of game but looked like he wasn't playing as hard as he should have been. I remember thinking at the time that he would have made it to the NBA if he only had a passion to do the little things.

Isnt Garrick Scott a BR deputy?

ETA- Landers Nolley's son is a decent '18 hoops prospect

Yep... I'll always remember that game as well. My final year at LSU.

We were down by double digits with 2 mins left and came up big for the win.

The next game Randy Livingston had his second major knee injury and was lost for the rest of the season. For all practical purposes that was the day the music died for LSU basketball. There have been a few good seasons since, a couple of great ones but the program has never really recovered it place among the elites of college basketball. Livingston's injuries and the draconian NCAA penalties a few years later effectively stopped LSU 's 15 year run of challenging Kentucky for SEC prominence.

Randy Livingston was like Superman in a tight game. He would go into the booth and emerge in the waning minutes and just totally take over.

That season started out so promising. We did get smashed early by the eventual national champ UCLA bruins but we were playing for 1st place in the west vs arky when Livingston went down. That guy was as exciting a player as we've ever had. If he stays healthy or just stayed with the team instead of turning pro early hedve been one of our alltime greats. Best college point guard I've ever seen.
