Here is LSU's QB Situation (Scholarship Players Only):

1. Jordan Jefferson, Jr.
2. Jarrett Lee, Jr.
3. Stephen Rivers (verbal)

Here is Alabama's QB Situation:

1. Greg McElroy, Sr.
2. AJ McCarron, Redshirt Fr.
3. Phillip Simms, True Fr.
4. Phillip Ely (verbal)

If you don't think this is a big deal or a problem, that is why they are the champs and you are not.

Cold hard truth.

Sooooo, they have 1 QB with experience and we have 2... I really don't get what you are trying to do right here honestly.

If Lee hadn't tanked in 08..

1) Jarrett Lee (JR)
2) Jordan Jefferson (RS soph)
3) Stephen Rivers (recruit)

It wouldn't be that big of a deal. We're snake bit it appears. Just my opinion but the difference between a RS FR and a RS SO is pretty big.

I think they are trying to point out Bama has guys loaded in line to be able to step in without much drop off in knowledge of the system. Where we will have a huge gap.

That's stupid because if we would not have transferred Shep to a WR it would be the same damn thing pretty much... How many teams do you think would love to have Shep as their Q?

Les has signed like 6-7 QBs in the last 5 years. Just some bad fricking luck IMO.

Right. Not a bruising offensive line with two potential All-American backs behind it; not a disciplined, fast, talented defense that can produce a consistent pass rush as well as stop the run.

Nah. It was Greg McElroy and the young, unproven "depth" (including one player that was still in high school at the time) behind him that made Alabama the national champions. The same Greg McElroy that barely completed 60% of his passes with the eventual Heisman Trophy Winner and his freakish freshman counterpart in the backfield. The same guy that threw a potentially back-breaking interception against some also-ran team who were beaten by a geriatric mafia stand-in.

Yeah. QB recruiting. That was it.

I like the way you think...forget about the assholes calling you a "newbie," the fact is, you speak the truth.

If you think the entire point is about Greg McElroy, well, the point went way over your head.

Bama won it's championship for other reasons than Elroy. I think where the op was trying to go was to point out that Bama and the unspoken one is lining up QB talent and depth to continue success when one departs whereas we have two JRs and no one else. Not counting Rivers until he is here. Even still in 2012 he will potentially be a red shirt freshman.

I agree had this or that went this way or that way we would not be in the position we are in now as well. Lee should be a Jr while Jefferson should still be a So. and IMO Shep should be a QB the kid has extreme talent. I don't dislike him being a wr and wild cat QB and running back etc either as long as he touches the ball just saying I don't buy into the he couldn't be a college QB and a good one at that.

I did understand your overarching point, until you pulled the "They are the champs, you aren't" card, which can only be applied to last year, correct? Hence, the evidence from last year seems to be the most relevant and applicable. I applied it.

Your intent is duly noted, but I couldn't let you get away with that red herring. Sorry if I was too snippy.

not to mention the 5 other players that were starting qbs for their high school when we were recruiting them. Shep, Claiborne, Randle, Gibson, and Ware.
CG and lee were on board until now. It is not like we are completely out of options here.

Randle is the only one that was listed as a wr. The other guys were either a QB or an athlete.

So technically we have 7 guys on scholarship that can play qb. plus tc and bailey. We have bodies, and most people think lee and jj are crap anyway.

I give you this. That part was my frustration coming out...they are the best right now and I want to get back there.

Well gee, now that you mention it, I guess LSU should have used Michael Clayton at qb after Mauck went down in 2002. I mean hey, he played quarterback in high school! RS did not work out at quarterback last year. If he had, he would be playing quarterback and not wide receiver. Reuben Randle was playing quarterback in high school because Bastrop probably didn't have a quarterback to throw him the ball. Many guys play quarterback in high school because they are the best athlete on the team and need to get as many touches as possible. Do we really need to run a high school offense?

i was trying to make a point so people wouldnt kill themselves. But hey wvu did well having their best ath play qb, oh and so did ohio state and countless other programs. shite arkansas didnt have a qb and were still beating people.

We can play this game all night. The point is we are not completely screwed.

None in the SEC. Miles should have not recruted Shep to be a QB. Shep is an athelete. He also missed with JJ. Not capable of being a SEC QB.
