As must as I love Mett and all the passing, it is one of the major reason we lose. As stated before, in our last 5 losses, 4 games where we had more passing plays vs running plays called, only 1 other since beginning last year (ole Miss)

2012 run / pass
Florida 21 / 29
Alabama 45 / 39
Clempson 19 / 29

2013 run / pass
Georgia 30 / 41
OleMiss 32 / 36

I know ya'll know better, but just wanted to share the real stuff.

Chicken or egg???

Losing in a game will dictate more passing... a figment of statistics.

In god we trust... All others bring data!

Figures lie and Liars figure (no offense intended)

it wasn't b/c we were behind, it's the game plan, hurry up!
All the games were close and we had played equal or better in most, but made decisions to pass more.....

I'm gonna go with choking on the last drive on defense.

That was the problem against Fla and Clemson but not Bama, OM, or UGA. We dominated TOP against Bama and the D kept themselves on the field against the other two.

I agree about TOP, it is less of a determinate in our losses. the # of run/pass plays is real number.

Yeah, not regression analysis, just raw data, and watching our game plan unfold every time we lose.

Pretty much why I get upset when people want us to run the fricking spread.

I like him too, but we are way undermanned with him not being mobile. Just watching this BYU game - their QB is a freaking stud. The whole joke @ Mett being a post really carries some water. And no, I'm not hating, but many of the successful college teams have somewhat mobile QB's that can in fact evade if necessary.

Yeah and when he passes 30+ times, he's gonna take sacks cause he doesn't know how to feel pressure and get rid of ball, or worse chunk up an int. = L

in 4 out of 5 losses, LSUBS88 has posted a thread on a Friday.

Maybe this will make it stop.

It makes perfect sense that when you are losing, like we were against Florida, Alabama, and Ole Miss that you are going to throw the ball to try and get down the field quicker. In the UGA game, you knew you had to match scores with them so again you couldn't afford to punt in that game.

Of those losses you mentioned, the only one that we shouldn't have passed as much was the Clemson game. Jeremy Hill should've been handed the ball 20+ times in the second half alone of that game.

the proble with your theory is that when you are losing you need to throw the ball more to catch up. Thus the higher passing ratio. Look at Ole Miss game, we ran a two tight end single WR formation for much of the first half and tried to pound them and got way behind, in the second half we spread them out and threw the ball and caught back up.

OM didn't stop our run, we did and game them the ball 3x after running down the field, the other games we weren't behind enough to change game plan, a long rushing drive wins all those games or sets it up, except OM, and we should have run more and use clock on our last drive v GA and OM

Agree about Hill carries, but where would we have been if Hill gets 20+ in all those losses and Hillard or Blue gets another 20carries?

I keep hearing the same stuff but it still comes up a loss when we pass to set up run!
