Is finishing third in the West for the last 3 years acceptable based on the talent and salaries and facilities we have at LSU? I think not. Also, Alleva said in an email last year that he had full confidence in Miles to improve our Offense this year but I don't think going from 107th to 90th is improvement. Changes are needed. Agreed?

Just for the record, the top 5 teams in the SEC this season are in the in the West. Are only losses were on the road to REALLY good teams!

Any season with double digit wins is great IMO, but I mean the op is right. We finished 3rd in our own division (even though it is probably the best division in the country).

We just haven't put it together in recent years.

08: lost to Bama, Arky, Miss, UGA, Florida
09: lost to Bama, Miss, Florida
10: lost to Aub, Arky

can't figure this shite out

Duck. I said that if Les were to go 10-2 each year and not win the West, should we not fire him. 10-2 didn't win it this year, last year, year before that and in 06 either. It did in 07 and we went 10-1 in 05 and won the west.

LSU with the talent we get should win the west or at least be in contention every other year in my opinion. Not the SEC, but the west. The west has been weak up until this year. What I mean by contention is that it goes to the last game of the year. Bama locked it up early the last two years and Auburn did the same this year. Arky did the same in 06.

I am sure I will be called an idiot expecting the best of the Tigers though.

Last time I looked we finished in 2nd in the West, we beat Fla, Ala and Tenn. How do you get third place? FYI - there are no tiebreakers for 2nd place.

We lost to two top 10 teams on the road. We beat everyone we were supposed to beat and a couple of teams most thought we would lose to.

Our record was sufficient to win the SEC East. We just happen to be in the West.

If the roles were reversed and I came in here talking about being tied for second with LSU I would get hammered

No, you would only get hammered for claiming a division championship without going to Atlanta. Tiebreakers are not applied for second, third, fourth or fifth place... Here are the overall SEC standings with tied teams listed in alphabetical order.

Auburn 8-0 12-0 (1st place)(SEC West Champ)
Arkansas 6-2 10-2 (tied 2nd place)
LSU 6-2 10-2 (tied 2nd place)
Alabama 5-3 9-3 (tied 4th place)
South Carolina 5-3 9-3 (tied 4th place)(SEC East Champ)
Florida 4-4 7-5 (tied 6th place)
Mississippi State 4-4 8-4 (tied 6th place)
Georgia 3-5 6-6 (tied 8th place)
Tennessee 3-5 6-6 (tied 8th place)
Kentucky 2-6 6-6 (10th place)
Mississippi 1-7 4-8 (tied 11th place)
Vanderbilt 1-7 2-10 (tied 11th place)

Not that I have a problem with this year, seeing as going 10-1 through 11 games and already being out of contention is more of an exception than the rule. I still think most people see LSU as having "tied for 2nd place" is just semantics. LSU and Arky both went 10-2. We all know who beat the other. In my mind we finished 3rd.
